Long Duc Ward Veterans Set a shining example in economic development

Promoting the qualities of "Uncle Ho's soldiers", over the years, the Veterans Association of Long Duc ward has always promoted the spirit of self-reliance, solidarity, helping each other develop the economy, build cultural life and actively participate in patriotic emulation movements. Many outstanding results

The Long Duc Ward Veterans Association currently has 463 members. During the past term, the association coordinated with the Social Policy Bank to create conditions for 228 members to borrow more than 9.3 billion VND to develop production and business; established 5 more cooperative groups, bringing the total number to 9 groups with 68 members, charter capital of 1.3 billion VND. The groups operate effectively in many fields such as cultivation, animal husbandry, services, and small-scale industry.

Many typical models such as: Ba Du rice paper facility creates stable jobs for 12 local workers, free-range chicken farming models, mud-free eel farming models... The whole association currently has 62 farms and ranches owned by war veterans, contributing significantly to local economic development.

In particular, during the last term, the Long Duc Ward Veterans Association effectively implemented the "Rotary Cow Breeding" model, supporting 8 members to adopt 8 cows for free, each worth about 18 million VND. When the cows give birth, the calves are handed over to other members to continue raising, creating a ripple effect in economic development. Thanks to this practical approach, the association's herd of cows has now grown to 36, with a total value of nearly 600 million VND.

Mr. Luu Ba Hung, a member of the Vinh Hoi Ward Veterans Association, shared: Since the association has supported the cows in giving birth, my family has had a more stable source of income. When the cow gives birth, I am happiest when I can hand over the calf to another member, helping each other develop the economy and strengthening solidarity and camaraderie.

The Association always cares about supporting housing and the lives of its members. In the past term, the Association mobilized the construction and repair of 45 houses with a total cost of nearly 2 billion VND, helping members stabilize their lives and confidently strive to become rich legitimately. In addition, the Internal Fund reached more than 468 million VND, supporting 68 members with revolving loans; the Veterans Care Fund has over 165 million VND used to visit and give gifts to members in difficulty. Thanks to these practical activities, the entire Association no longer has poor or re-poor households, more than 58% of member households have a good or rich standard of living.

Exemplary in emulation movements

Promoting the tradition of "Uncle Ho's soldiers", the Long Duc Ward Veterans Association always closely coordinates with departments, branches, and organizations, actively participating in patriotic emulation movements, associated with "Studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality, and style". Every year, 100% of members register to study and follow Uncle Ho through practical actions and deeds in life. The "Exemplary Veterans" movement is maintained regularly with 438/438 member households achieving the title of "Cultural Family".

Responding to the movement of “Skilled Mass Mobilization”, the association has implemented the model of “Supporting wheelchairs and health insurance for members and veterans in difficult circumstances”, donating 11 wheelchairs and 27 health insurance cards worth nearly 89 million VND. Members also voluntarily bought 872 health insurance cards for their relatives and encouraged 25 cases to participate in voluntary social insurance.

In the movement to build new rural areas and civilized urban areas, the association actively responded to the "4 donations": donating labor, donating ideas, donating money, and donating land. Since then, 43 member households in the ward have donated more than 2,800 square meters of land for roads, worth over 2.8 billion VND; coordinated to build a concrete bridge and contributed more than 120 working days.

In addition, the association also maintains 17 environmental clubs with 814 members. During the term, the clubs organized more than 300 environmental sanitation campaigns, planted trees, dredged canals, cleared roads, contributing to building Long Duc ward bright, green, clean and beautiful.

Mr. Dinh Van Ta - Head of the Veterans Association of Cong Thien Hung Hamlet, said: Every week, the members of the association clean up, plant trees, and take care of the flower street together. It's a small job, but everyone is happy because it contributes to making their ward cleaner and more beautiful.

During the past term, the Long Duc Ward Veterans Association completed 100% of the targets set out in the resolution, of which 5 targets were achieved and 5 targets were exceeded. The achieved targets include: 100% of members are steadfast in political ideology; 100% of cadres are trained; 100% of veterans are eligible to participate in club activities; 100% of branches have completed their tasks well, over 98% of members are exemplary and have cultural families; no members are re-poor. The exceeded targets include: 112% of membership admission; 150% of housing policy implementation; 150% of employment support and overseas labor support; 125% of cooperative group establishment; 162% of party member introduction and development.

The work of propagating and disseminating the law was promoted with 17 clubs "War Veterans and People Learn the Law" and the "7+1" model in 17 hamlets, attracting more than 1,200 participants. The "Model Branch" model was effectively implemented with 17/17 branches meeting standards, of which 10 were advanced branches.

Mr. Le Thai Su - Chairman of the Association of War Veterans of Long Duc Ward, affirmed: The results achieved today are thanks to the solidarity and consensus of all members. In the coming time, the association will continue to innovate the content and methods of operation, replicate good models and effective methods to make the association stronger and stronger, contributing with the Party Committee and the People to build Long Duc Ward more civilized, modern and sustainable.
