Implementing Decision No. 966/QD-UBND dated August 4, 2023 of the Provincial People's Committee on approving the Plan for Linking the Planting and Consumption of Biomass Corn, the Provincial Cooperative Union has coordinated with local authorities and Phuc Hoa Cooperative to review the area, identify eligible households to participate; at the same time, survey the market for materials and plant varieties suitable for soil conditions. Biomass corn varieties NK7328 BT/GT and Tien Nong organic fertilizers are supplied promptly, ensuring the right season and technical standards. In 2023 alone, the program will support 110 poor and near-poor households with nearly 1 ton of seeds, over 60 tons of fertilizers, with a total cost of more than 600 million VND. In 2024 and 2025, despite being greatly affected by the clearance of the highway, nearly 100 households will still maintain the model, many of which have escaped poverty and continue to participate.
In Ngoc Nam hamlet, Hanh Phuc commune, the green fields of biomass corn grow along the mountain slopes. Mr. Nong Van Luc, Head of Ngoc Nam hamlet, shared: The hamlet has 16 households participating in the association. Previously, people mainly grew corn kernels, with low productivity and unstable output. Since participating in biomass corn cultivation, receiving support for seeds and fertilizers, and having a cooperative to purchase on-site, people are very excited. Biomass corn is suitable for the soil, providing stable income and less risk.
The linkage model not only brings economic efficiency but also enhances the spirit of cooperation among people, helping them learn cultivation techniques and actively coordinate in the harvesting stage. In particular, people no longer do small-scale business but start thinking about planned production, with commitments and stable output.

Mr. Nong Van Bieu's family, Ngoc Nam hamlet, is one of the households that participated in the model from the first year, said: "Previously, growing corn seeds was hard work each crop without much profit. Now, with support for seeds and fertilizers, investment costs have decreased by nearly 25%, and productivity is high, so my family has grown more than 6,000 m2 of biomass corn, the cooperative buys all the products, each crop I earn about 20 million VND. With a stable income, we are confident in sticking with the fields."
Mr. Nguyen Khac Thanh, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Phuc Hoa Agriculture and Forestry Cooperative, said: We signed contracts to purchase products with livestock farms and processing enterprises in and outside the province, ensuring stable output. According to actual results, each hectare of biomass corn, people achieved an average of nearly 36 tons, reaching 82% of the expected output of the association. With a selling price of 1,050 VND/kg, people's income reached 37.8 million VND/ha, reaching 87% of the expected results. In addition to purchasing, the Cooperative also organized technical training, guiding people on the cultivation process and proper fertilization. Biomass corn is becoming a strategic crop, helping the Cooperative and farmers benefit together. The model not only helps poor households reduce investment costs, but also forms a closed production - consumption chain, creating a foundation for the development of small-scale but highly effective commodity agriculture .
By participating in the linkage model, many poor and near-poor households have more jobs on the spot, stabilize their income, and limit the situation of young people leaving their hometown to work far away. At the same time, the model encourages the use of organic fertilizers, high-quality seeds, and compliance with technical processes to minimize pests and limit chemical abuse, thereby contributing to environmental protection and improving soil fertility.
Vice Chairman of the Provincial Cooperative Union Tran Anh Dung said: We clearly defined the goal of the program as not only supporting inputs, but also creating a habit of organized production, linked with product consumption according to the chain. When people participate in a model with commitments and markets, they will change their awareness and be more proactive in economic development. In particular, this model is an important stepping stone in the process of restructuring the province's agricultural sector, helping to form concentrated raw material areas and promote collective economic development. Practices from Hanh Phuc and Duc Long communes show that linking the planting and consumption of biomass corn is a suitable and effective direction, helping people shift from the mindset of "producing to have enough to eat" to "producing to sell". In the coming time, the Provincial Cooperative Union will continue to coordinate with sectors and localities to expand the model to communes with similar conditions; At the same time, encourage businesses and cooperatives to invest in mechanization, apply technology, and develop processing stages to increase product added value.
