The God of Wealth's day, January 10th of the lunar calendar, falls on Monday, February 19th this year. Many families, especially those doing business, have prepared offerings with many fresh and delicious items.
The offering tray on the God of Wealth's day usually has a set of three offerings: a piece of pork, boiled eggs and boiled shrimp (or crab).
On this occasion, shops and catering units have launched many elaborately prepared offering trays with prices ranging from several hundred thousand to nearly 2 million VND. In addition to the three-piece set, the offering trays also include sticky rice, fortune dumplings, and gold bars symbolizing prosperity...
Ms. Nguyen Thuy ( Hanoi ) said that on the 9th and 10th of the first lunar month, she sold more than 200 trays of offerings to the God of Wealth with prices ranging from 695,000 VND to 1.8 million VND.
The offerings on each tray include shrimp, sticky rice, roast pork, crab, boiled eggs, and dumplings. The difference between the trays is in the shrimp. For the cheaper tray, Ms. Thuy uses giant freshwater prawns, while the million-dollar tray has Alaskan lobster imported from North America.
Because the items used for the God of Wealth offering tray are quite expensive, Ms. Pham Thi Thao (in Gia Lam, Hanoi) only accepts orders from customers who have placed orders in advance.
"The 1.4 million VND tray has sticky rice with gac fruit, 9 gold bars of sticky rice, eggs, crab, lobster, and roast pork. The 939,000 VND tray also has similar ingredients, but I replaced the shrimp with 3 tiger prawns," said Ms. Thao.
According to Ms. Thao, well-off business people are willing to spend millions to buy offerings to the God of Wealth.
Understanding the psychology of customers, cooks like Ms. Thao have bought expensive ingredients such as lobster, crab, made elaborate handmade cakes in the shape of gold bars, gold jars... and created an offering tray that is not only delicious and beautiful but also makes customers feel full and prosperous.
"We mainly consult and sell products over the phone. Customers like the sample so much that they don't hesitate to order even though the offering tray costs millions of dong," said Ms. Thao.
A catering shop in Thanh Tri sells offerings to the God of Wealth for prices ranging from 350,000 VND to 1.4 million VND.
The shop's most expensive offering tray is placed on a 40cm diameter tray, including 3 lobsters, 3 crabs, boiled chicken, dumplings, eggs and roast meat.

Ms. Doan Hien, the shop owner, said that the restaurant only accepts orders until the 9th of the first lunar month and delivers orders to customers on the 9th and 10th of the lunar month. Offering trays priced under 1 million VND are more popular. However, many customers also choose offerings priced over 1 million VND.
"On God of Wealth Day, we delivered 300 trays of food to customers in Thanh Tri and Hanoi city center," said Ms. Hien.
Besides the million-dong offerings, cheap offerings ranging from 200,000 to 400,000 VND also attract buyers. Ms. Nguyen Thi Tam (Cau Giay District) said she has been making offerings to the God of Wealth for the past 3 days.
Ms. Tam named the offering tray she made "Loc Tran" with the price of 369,000 VND, including 3 gold bars with green bean filling, 3 or 5 chocolate gold coins, 3 boiled eggs, 3 shrimps, 1 piece of roast meat, 1 plate of sticky rice with the word "Loc" or the image of God of Wealth, 1 lucky money envelope.

Providing affordable offerings, Ms. Tam sold out all her offerings on the morning of the 10th. "Many customers asked to order more, but I didn't sell any more because I had to prepare fresh shrimp, meat, and cakes in advance," Ms. Tam said.
To save money, many housewives do not buy ready-made offerings to the God of Wealth but prepare them themselves. Ms. Bao Ngoc, a clothing seller in An Khanh, Hoai Duc, said that at the beginning of the year, there were few customers so she went to the market to buy offerings.

Ms. Ngoc chose to buy 3 gold bar-shaped mooncakes for 15,000 VND each, 3 shrimps for 70,000 VND, 1 roast pork portion for 75,000 VND, 3 eggs and some fruit and gold. The total value of the tray of offerings was less than 200,000 VND.
"In the context of needing to tighten spending, I think preparing the offering tray myself is reasonable while still ensuring sincerity," said Ms. Ngoc.
