High school graduation exam form 2024 changes

Mr. Huynh Van Chuong - Director of the Department of Quality Management (Ministry of Education and Training) said that this change was made at the request of the Departments of Education and Training.

Specifically, in the previous exam paper, the regulation for the candidate's registration number was to write both letters and numbers, many candidates wrote "012345 (zero one two...)". This year, the new exam paper has removed the note: "Candidates must write both letters and numbers", meaning that just writing 012345... is enough.

According to the Director of the Department of Quality Management, the old exam paper form is a historical relic because there used to be a university exam cluster, so it has both letter and number registration numbers, for example "BKA012345".

For the multiple-choice answer sheet, the Ministry of Education and Training retains the old format. Candidates need to fill in all the information, the last 6 digits of the registration number, and fill in the circles in the number table below (corresponding to the digits already written).

In the answer section, for each multiple choice question, candidates choose and fill in a circle in the answers A, B, C, D.

Candidates are not allowed to fill in the options with serial numbers that do not correspond to the multiple choice questions in the exam.

This year's high school graduation exam takes place on June 26-28 with four exams, including Math, Literature, English and a combination exam (Natural Science or Social Science).

All exams are in multiple choice format, except Literature which is in essay format.

According to statistics from the Ministry of Education and Training, this year, 1,067,391 candidates registered for the exam on the system (1,024,063 in 2023). Of which, 45,344 candidates registered for the exam independently (37,841 in 2023).

Last year, of about one million candidates, 98.88% passed, the highest rate since 2015. Of these, more than 546,000 applied for university admission.
