Mazda CX-5 2026 set to launch in Southeast Asia, waiting to be sold in Vietnam
Vietnamese customers will have to wait a little longer to buy the new generation Mazda CX-5 2026, after the markets of Indonesia, Malaysia or Thailand.

The new generation Mazda CX-5 2026 was officially launched on July 10, 2025. Up to now, PT Eurokars Motor Indonesia (EMI), the unit holding the right to distribute the Mazda brand in Indonesia, has spoken out about the possibility of launching the all-new CX-5 in this market. According to Mr. Ricky Thio, CEO of PT EMI, the event taking place on July 10, 2025 was just a debut in the European market. After that, this C-size SUV will be gradually introduced to the global market.
“The launch of the all-new Mazda CX-5 on July 10, 2025 is a European debut, with sales planned to begin later this year. This is part of Mazda’s strategy to introduce the new model to global regions in stages,” Ricky told Indonesian reporters on July 21, 2025. Pre-orders for the European market will begin in the third quarter of 2025. Meanwhile, the model will be launched in Asia via the Japanese market, with sales expected to begin in the land of cherry blossoms in 2026. Ricky also said that the next-generation Mazda CX-5 is expected to be available in the Indonesian market next year. “For the Indonesian market, the launch is planned for late 2026,” Ricky said. In the initial phase of its global launch, the new generation Mazda CX-5 will be equipped with a 2.5L, 4-cylinder Skyactiv-G engine, with a maximum capacity of 187 horsepower and a maximum torque of 251 Nm. The car has the option of front-wheel drive (FWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD).
In addition, it is likely that the Mazda CX-5 will have an additional 2.5L, 4-cylinder e-Skyactiv-G engine option, combined with 24V mild hybrid technology, producing a maximum capacity of 140 horsepower and maximum torque of 238 Nm. Meanwhile, the design of this C-size SUV still feels quite familiar because it has not changed much compared to the previous generation. The car still uses Mazda's signature Kodo design with a large 7-point grille, connected to slim headlights forming a pair of wings, a sportier front bumper, L-shaped taillights, 19-inch alloy wheels and 2 round exhaust pipes at the rear. Compared to the previous generation, the car is 115 mm longer, 15 mm wider and 15 mm taller while the wheelbase is increased by 76 mm. Specifically, the Mazda CX-5 2026 has dimensions of length x width x height of 4,690 x 1,860 x 1,695 mm and a wheelbase of 2,760 mm. The change in size brings more spacious interior space to this C-size SUV. The car's equipment is also more convenient and modern with a central touch screen measuring from 12.9 to 15.6 inches, depending on the version. Besides, there is a 10.25-inch digital clock, Qi wireless charging, panoramic sunroof and 12-speaker Bose sound system.
For the Vietnamese market, customers will probably have to wait a little longer to buy the new generation Mazda CX-5. Previously, the mid-life upgraded version of the CX-5 was also launched in Vietnam a few years later than in Indonesia. According to plan, Mazda CX-5 2026 will be sold from the beginning of 2026, price announced at the same time. CX-5 is in the same segment as Honda CR-V, Hyundai Tucson, Kia Sportage, Ford Territory.
