After the Champions League final on the morning of June 1, Mbappe did not hesitate to share his joy on his personal page with the message: "This day has come. Victory and a great attitude from the club. Congratulations PSG."
Mbappe left PSG on a free transfer last summer to join Real Madrid. Since the France captain's departure, Luis Enrique's side have enjoyed a historic season, winning the quadruple of Ligue 1, the Champions League, the Coupe de France and the Trophée des Champions.
PSG put in a dominant performance in the final in Munich, with young talent Desire Doue scoring twice, alongside goals from Achraf Hakimi, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Senny Mayulu.
Before the match, striker Ousmane Dembele denied that PSG were a "better team" without Mbappe, stressing that PSG's current style of play was different to when they had an attacking trio of Lionel Messi, Neymar and Mbappe.
"Are the games easier without Mbappe? No. Even with Mbappe, we could have achieved better results this season," said Dembele.
The Champions League victory was an important milestone for PSG, confirming that the French representative has the right development path. Building a foundation from a new collective is necessary, instead of just focusing on bringing in expensive stars like in the past.
