Mbappe scores for the 10th consecutive match, France maintains winning streak in 2026 World Cup qualifiers

Striker Kylian Mbappe scored in his 10th consecutive game for club and country, as France beat Azerbaijan 3-0 early on October 11 in a 2026 World Cup qualifier.

Mbappe is enjoying a dream start, continuing to score and assist for the French team. Mbappe's opening goal against Azerbaijan in the 45+3 minute was his 53rd goal for the "Rooster Goloa" (the nickname of the French team).

In addition to this goal, Mbappe also had an assist for Adrien Rabiot to head in to increase the score to 2-0 in the 69th minute. Florian Thauvin sealed the 3-0 victory for the French team in the 84th minute. This victory helped the French team maintain the top position in the group with 9 points after 3 wins, 4 points more than the second-ranked team Ukraine.

For Mbappe, this is his best start to a season in terms of goalscoring. Up to this point, Mbappe has scored 17 goals in 20 appearances for France and Real Madrid this season.

This achievement has surpassed the 12 goals he scored in the opening 10 matches of the 2018-2019 season and 11 goals at the beginning of the 2022-2023 season.

Although Mbappe is arguably the most in-form player in Europe, he is still behind rivals Erling Haaland and Harry Kane in the scoring charts.

Striker Haaland has scored 18 goals in 11 appearances for Man City and Norway, while Kane's record is even better with 18 goals in 10 appearances for Bayern Munich and England.
