France France captain Kylian Mbappe affirmed that whether to stay or leave PSG is entirely up to him.
On the sidelines of the Viva Tech exhibition in Paris on June 14, when asked by a fan about Kylian Mbappe, President Emmanuel Macron said there was no news yet but would try to convince his compatriot striker to stay at PSG until 2025. In 2022, President Macron revealed each influence that made Mbappe change his decision at the last minute, choosing to stay at PSG instead of signing with Real on a free transfer.
However, at the French national team's training camp yesterday, Mbappe affirmed: "Can President Macron decide my career? No way. He once said he wanted me to stay at PSG and I also wanted to stay. We both have the same thoughts."

Mbappe also confirmed the letter sent to PSG earlier this week, in which he informed the club that he would only comply with his contract until June 2024 and not activate the extension clause until June 2025. This puts PSG in a difficult position. The Ligue 1 champions must choose between accepting to lose Mbappe for free after a year, or selling him this summer to recoup the transfer fee.
Mbappe confirmed that he wants to stay at PSG for the rest of the 2023-2024 season. He considers the rumors of wanting to move to Real this summer to be lies. "Right now, staying at PSG is my only option," Mbappe said. "I just sent a letter and I don't think I offended anyone."
Mbappe has played for PSG since 2017. To have the service of the French "prodigy", PSG had to pay a transfer fee of 200 million USD to Monaco. After 260 matches, Mbappe has scored 212 goals, becoming the player with the most goals in the club's history, helping PSG win five Ligue 1, three French Cups, two French League Cups and two French Super Cups. But he has not won the Champions League. Mbappe and PSG's best achievement in the Champions League was reaching the final of the 2019-2020 season.
With France, Mbappe won the 2018 World Cup. France reached the final of the 2022 World Cup, but lost to Argentina in a penalty shootout. Mbappe was the tournament's top scorer with eight goals.
Real Madrid are short of a striker after parting ways with Karim Benzema. According to Spanish media, the former European champions want to sign Harry Kane, but Tottenham are not willing. In the left wing position where Mbappe plays for PSG and the French national team, Real already has Vinicius. If he joins the Bernabeu, Mbappe may have to change positions, or accept competition with the Brazilian star.
