Having just returned home after attending the parade commemorating the 80th anniversary of National Day on September 2nd at Ba Dinh Square ( Hanoi ), Heroic Vietnamese Mother Tran Thi Huyen (86 years old, residing in Lien Cong residential area, Tran Phu Ward, Ha Tinh Province) showed no signs of fatigue despite the long journey. Heroic Vietnamese Mother Tran Thi Huyen recounts a memorable moment at the parade.
Huyen's mother said that after receiving the invitation to the parade, she, along with her youngest daughter-in-law and the delegation from Ha Tinh province, went to Hanoi to attend.
"My mother's father and her two sons all sacrificed their lives for the revolutionary cause. My mother is very sad, of course. But she is also very proud and grateful that the State has taken good care of her, ensuring she hasn't been disadvantaged. This time, she was even invited to Hanoi to attend the parade commemorating the 80th anniversary of National Day on September 2nd. My mother is very happy," said Mrs. Huyen.

Early in the morning of September 2nd, Huyen's mother wore a vibrant red ao dai (traditional Vietnamese dress), her hair neatly tied back with a black scarf. She sat in the honorary seats at Ba Dinh Square, right next to General Secretary To Lam. National television repeatedly broadcast images of Huyen's mother sitting in the stands, attentively watching each magnificent parade march by.
"My mother saw tanks and missiles speeding past in front of her. Our country is so powerful now. She was so excited and proud," Huyen's mother recounted.
Huyen's mother said she was surprised to be seated next to General Secretary To Lam in the honorary row. She recounted: "The General Secretary was simple and kind, asking about my well-being and offering me water. I told him about my family's traditions. I said that despite the losses, I felt warmhearted to be treated this way by the State."

Images of Mother Huyen appearing on live television broadcasts of the A80 ceremony were captured by many people across the country, especially in Ha Tinh province, and shared widely on social media. Information about Heroic Vietnamese Mother Tran Thi Huyen was also sought after by many.
The people are immensely grateful and proud that Heroic Vietnamese Mother Tran Thi Huyen's father was a pre-revolutionary cadre who sacrificed his life in the struggle against French colonialism in 1938. When the country entered the years of fierce war, her children followed in their father's footsteps. Her two sons, martyrs Nguyen Van Duong (who died in 1977) and Nguyen Van Cat (who died in 1980), fell while on international duty in Cambodia.
