Interesting experiences when choosing dishes on electronic menus using QR codes at restaurants
Bum Coffee on Ngo Quyen Street, Vinh Yen City is a place that attracts a lot of young people thanks to its suitable space and quick response to the digital transformation trend. Here, the shop has pioneered the application of scanning QR codes to order food on the electronic menu through Sapo Fnb software.
When coming to a coffee shop, instead of the traditional way of serving, where the staff waits for customers to look at the menu to order drinks, at each table, customers only need to open the photo application and scan the QR code attached to the table, the link to the shop's menu will appear for customers to choose. In addition to the electronic menu system, through this application, the shop owner will also receive payment requests or when customers need to call the support staff.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Thuy, owner of Bum Coffee, shared: “At first, many customers were not familiar with scanning codes, so the staff often came to each table to guide them on how to use it. Up to now, over 90% of customers coming to the shop are familiar with scanning QR codes.
Not only that, since the QR code scanning application for ordering drinks on the electronic menu has helped the restaurant reduce the number of employees, limit errors when entering data, and reduce customers' waiting time. Currently, the restaurant has about 40 tables, but at the busiest time, it only needs a maximum of 2-3 service staff, reducing a significant amount of personnel costs. In addition, there is no cost to print paper menus."
As a regular customer enjoying drinks at Bum Coffee, Ms. Nhu Hoa, Khai Quang ward, Vinh Yen city said: “Because I often go out for coffee with friends, I am very impressed with the experience of scanning QR codes to choose drinks at the shop, convenient for both the shop's staff and customers.
Looking at eye-catching images of food and drinks, I will easily make choices and feel more comfortable, without having to worry about making the staff wait for a long time. In addition, this application will ensure accurate drink selection when ordering during busy times or crowded tables."
At Tao Pho garden restaurant, Thach Ban street, Vinh Yen city, the form of ordering via the electronic menu system has also been applied for nearly 2 years now. It is known that the store is using the iPOS O2O electronic menu, each table will be equipped with a QR code. Diners only need to use their smartphone to scan this code and order food, call the staff or pay via Momo or ZaloPay e-wallet, extremely convenient.
However, despite its many conveniences, ordering via an electronic menu is quite new, while many customers are familiar with the traditional way of ordering.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Ha, owner of Tao Pho garden, said: “Applying technology to daily life is a current trend. This modern way of ordering food helps the store become more professional in its service, overcoming the limitations of the traditional menu. However, besides its usefulness, this form also reveals its limitations, such as causing difficulties for older customers or customers who do not use smartphones.
Currently, the rate of customers scanning QR codes to order food and drinks is about 60%, mainly young people. Therefore, the restaurant still maintains the form of ordering via electronic menu and staff coming to the table to take orders because we want to bring customers the most satisfaction."
