To prepare for the 1st Pickleball Tournament - 2025 organized by Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper, taking place on June 14 at THE 8386 Pickleball Club (No. 71 National Highway 13, Hiep Binh Chanh Ward, Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City), singer - actress Minh Hang spent a lot of time practicing. Minh Hang jokingly said: "Must practice hard or else it will be "unsatisfactory"!

Minh Hang said she has only been playing pickleball for 3 months now but is now "addicted". Being a sports enthusiast, before playing pickleball, Minh Hang spent many years on the tennis court. She is even one of the famous people who is quite good at playing tennis.

However, since pickleball became a popular sport in Vietnam, Minh Hang also changed her tennis racket to a pickleball racket. She said: "Playing pickleball requires both technique and 'tricks'."

Above all, playing pickleball with Minh Hang is an effective way to bond with the family. It doesn’t require much strength or skill, the whole family can play a few games of pickleball together. Compared to going to a cafe but each person has a phone, pulling the whole family out to the field to play a few games of pickleball is extremely meaningful.

Indeed, during the practice session on the afternoon of June 6, before entering the real matches, Minh Hang was the one who taught her 6-year-old niece how to play soccer. She brought her husband, sister-in-law, younger brother, niece, etc. together to the field as a way to set up "family sports time" - she said.

Compared to the family members "playing pickleball for fitness", Minh Hang is nurturing the intention of playing professionally. Because "playing pickleball is an extremely effective way to lose weight. It is normal for a player to lose over 10 kg in a short period of time. As a celebrity, keeping in shape is a responsibility for me. Not to mention, acting and singing require a lot of movement, forcing me to have good health. Therefore, playing pickleball is very reasonable".

Minh Hang revealed that playing pickleball is not as expensive as many people say. The fees for renting a court and investing in costumes are not too large. Or even if you have to hire a training expert, it only takes a short time to play. To be good, players need to practice hard. "What I like most about Pickleball, in addition to the benefits I just mentioned, is that Pickleball's practice clothes are really attractive. As a girl, beauty is the first criterion I care about. The design and color are so "captivating" - Minh Hang shared.

When pickleball first came to Vietnam, this sport also encountered many barriers. In particular, the fact that many beautiful girls went to the pickleball court just to check in and not practice made many people have a bad view of this sport.

Regarding this, Minh Hang shared: "Actually, all women love fashion . And each person has their own fashion sense, just like everyday fashion. Some people like to be discreet, but others also like to be a little revealing. Therefore, discriminating against this sport just because of clothing is unfair.

Like all other sports, pickleball also brings great physical benefits. And with such an accessible and inexpensive sport, it is understandable that pickleball has become a favorite sport trend.

As the ambassador of the first Pickleball Tournament organized by Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper, Minh Hang said: "Although I am not a professional player, I still accepted this role because I want to use my influence to spread the spirit of sportsmanship to everyone, especially young people. It is not necessary to play pickleball, but each person can choose any sport that they find suitable. Just build a steadfast sportsmanship, it is not only a way to protect yourself but also to build society, a healthy society".

In line with the general flow and keeping up with the trend of sports, Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper decided to organize the 1st Pickleball Tournament - 2025 as a behind-the-scenes activity to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 - June 21, 2025) and the 50th anniversary of the founding of Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper (July 28, 1975 - July 28, 2025).

According to the tournament rules, the qualifying matches will take place in 1 set, each set will be 11 points and change the field from 6 points, 2 points away is a win from 10-10 points with the final score being 15; from the knockout round, each match will be 1 set, each set will be 15 points and change the field from 8 points, 2 points away is a win from 14-14 points with the final score being 21. As for the final matches, the competition will be in 3 sets, 2 wins, each set will be 11 points.
