In addition, Mitsubishi Xpander is also the best-selling car model in the entire Vietnamese automobile market after the first half of 2023. Xpander is also the key product that helps increase Mitsubishi's total sales when the number of Xpander cars sold accounts for 75% of the total.

In June, only Xpander sold more than 1,000 cars, although it was an imported product, and did not have a sales effect when the Government proposed a 50% reduction in registration fees for assembled cars from the beginning of last month. Xpander accumulated to 7,982 cars after the first 6 months of 2023, down 2% compared to the same period in 2022.

In the first 6 months of 2023, Mitsubishi Xpander sold 8,000 vehicles, accounting for nearly 44% of the market share of the MPV segment.

Xpander dominates the segment thanks to its youthful design, adequate features and competitive price. Big incentives from the company and dealers in June in the form of registration fee support and accessories also help the Indonesian imported MPV maintain stable sales.

Coming in second place is Toyota Veloz with 3,640 vehicles after 6 months, plus Avanza, the total sales of the two Toyota models is 4,836 vehicles, about 3,100 vehicles less than Xpander.

Toyota also has an MPV model with a larger size and price than the rest, Innova. Used to be the main MPV of the Japanese company in Vietnam many years before 2018, but the appearance of Xpander has changed the tastes of users in the segment. In the first 6 months of 2023, Innova sold 995 cars, less than Xpander sold in a month.

The new generation of Innova has been launched in neighboring markets with an SUV-inspired design. The car is expected to arrive in Vietnam next September, with dealers predicting a price of over 1 billion VND.

Xpander dominates the segment thanks to its youthful design, adequate features and competitive price.

In the first half of 2023, the small MPV segment had two new entrants, the Hyundai Stargazer and Kia Carens. Although the Stargazer did not reach the top group, it sold third best, reaching more than 1,900 vehicles, while the Carens sold nearly 1,200 vehicles, ranking 6th in the segment.

Stargazer has a traditional MPV design, priced on par with Xpander and Veloz. Carens has an SUV look, many amenities, and is the highest priced in the segment. Both expand the options for customers in this segment and the upcoming Honda BRV, a model on sale from July.

In the middle group in terms of sales is the Suzuki XL7, a model that sold more than 1,200 units, behind the Hyundai Stargazer. The XL7 contributed the most sales for Suzuki in the passenger car segment. The Japanese company also has the Ertiga model.   The only hybrid engine in the segment with modest sales, only 212 cars after 6 months. After 6 months of 2023, the entire MPV segment priced under one billion VND sold a total of 18,366 cars.
