Security and customs officers seized the cannabis resin in the northern port of Tangier “on an international cargo truck,” the Directorate General for State Security (DGSN) said late last week.

The cannabis resin was pressed into sheets and hidden in compartments and crevices of the truck, such as the chassis. The 45-year-old Moroccan driver was arrested.
In another operation, also in Tangier, nearly 60 kilograms of cocaine were seized inside a refrigerated container, police said.
The cocaine was packed in a shipment of tuna marked as coming from Ecuador and headed to Spain.
Morocco is the world's largest producer of cannabis resin, according to the United Nations, and police seized nearly 100 tons of cannabis resin in the country last year.
Police have also made several large cocaine seizures in recent years, as South American gangs use the North African country as a transit hub for smuggling to Europe.
