On the afternoon of July 21, in response to VTC News, a representative of Manulife Insurance Company said that the company identified one of the victims in the tourist boat capsize in Quang Ninh as a customer of the company. The company is urgently carrying out payment procedures to support the customer's family.

The ship Blue Bay 58 was towed back to shore to await investigation agency's examination of the scene.
According to a representative of Manulife, the company has decided to pay insurance benefits to the victim's family with an estimated amount of 1.32 billion VND.
The victim has been insured since 2020. The insurance company has guided the family through the necessary procedures to receive compensation. Payment will be made immediately after completing the funeral procedures.
Previously, in the serious fires that occurred in Hanoi in 2024, this company also paid insurance benefits to customers who were unfortunately involved in the accident. It is known that in the first 6 months of 2025, Manulife Vietnam paid more than 3,700 billion VND in insurance benefits to customers.
On July 21, the Department of Insurance Management and Supervision ( Ministry of Finance ) also issued Official Letter No. 896 requesting the Vietnam Insurance Association and insurance companies to report on the damage and insurance compensation in the capsized ship Vinh Xanh 58; and proactively respond to storm No. 3 (Wipha) today.
The Department recommends that insurance companies proactively coordinate with relevant agencies, organizations and individuals to determine the damage to people and property of organizations and individuals participating in insurance. The units also need to immediately make advance compensation, compensation and pay insurance money quickly, promptly and fully to the insurance buyer and beneficiary according to the agreement in the insurance contract and legal regulations.
Vietnam Insurance Association coordinates with insurance companies to organize humanitarian support according to internal regulations and relevant legal regulations.
As reported by VTC News, at noon on July 19, the tourist boat Vinh Xanh 58 carrying 49 people encountered a large storm while traveling near Dau Go cave, causing the boat to capsize in just a few seconds.
To date, 10 people have been rescued, 36 people have died, and 3 people are still missing. Authorities in Quang Ninh province are continuing to search for missing victims, care for injured victims, and support the families of the unfortunate victims with funeral arrangements.
