Speaking to Thanh Nien Newspaper reporter, Dr. Tran Nam Dung, Vice Principal of Ho Chi Minh City National University High School for the Gifted, said that the school will pilot a program for students to study credits for some university subjects.

Accordingly, students of the Gifted High School can register for credits of 5 basic, general university subjects such as linear algebra, general chemistry, etc.

Students will study the registered credits online and complete the exam in person. Specifically, students access and study on the MOOC lecture system. After completing the course and taking the exam, if students continue to study at the university level at the Ho Chi Minh City National University, these credits will be recognized.

Dr. Tran Nam Dung added that the school had a meeting and introduced this program to the school's students. The number of students registering was quite high, including students from grades 10 to 12. The vice principal assessed that this program would be more suitable for grade 12 students when they have the clearest orientation about their career and may have chosen their desired university. Students' early access to university programs will help them have the opportunity to develop their abilities while taking advantage of their time to study, reducing the time spent in university.

Dr. Tran Nam Dung said that the policy of students of the Gifted High School to study university credits right from high school is the policy of Ho Chi Minh City National University, the school's management agency.

At the 2023 annual conference of Ho Chi Minh City National University, Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Hai Quan, Director of this University, mentioned the pilot implementation of a number of general subjects and the organization of credit learning, credit recognition for excellent high school students using a combined method of both in-person and online.

The Director of Ho Chi Minh City National University said that the form of studying university credits at the high school level will bring many benefits to excellent students. These students will have the opportunity to access universityeducation early, thereby having the opportunity to complete the training program and shorten the university study time by a maximum of one year.
