'Mr Manchester United' passes away

Marin Zdravkov Levidzhov - the Bulgarian man who legally changed his name to Manchester United, passed away at the age of 62, leaving behind a touching story of unconditional love for the "Red Devils".

English football has just lost a special icon.

Manchester United FC issued a statement: "We are very sorry to hear the news and would like to send our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Marin Zdravkov Levidzhov. He was a special fan, a true 'Mr. Manchester United'."

From an ordinary construction worker, Levidzhov became a global phenomenon when he carved the MU badge on his forehead and devoted his life to his beloved team. The passion started after the legendary night at Camp Nou in 1999, when MU came from behind to beat Bayern Munich 2-1 to win the historic treble.

The next morning, still tipsy from the victory, he announced that he would change his name to stay with the team for life. After 15 years of persistent struggle, in 2014, Marin was recognized by the new name Manchester Zdravkov Levidzhov-United.

His story was captured in the documentary My Mate Manchester United (2011), which revealed the extraordinary journey of a fan who dared to turn his love of football into a life ideal. "Mr United" once burst into tears when he set foot in Old Trafford.

In his small house in Bulgaria, Levidzhov lives in a bright red MU space with Beckham posters, Berbatov jerseys, flags and banners covering the walls. Even his pet cat is named "Becks". To him, MU is his ideal, his joy and the definition of life.
