Manchester United open negotiations to sign Pervis Estupinan. |
According to The Guardian , coach Ruben Amorim highly values the left winger of Brighton & Hove Albion. Although the team just recruited Patrick Dorgu in January and welcomed Diego Leon from Paraguay this summer, coach Amorim is still not satisfied with the personnel in the wing-back position.
Manchester United's interest in Estupinan raises many questions, as the team currently has many options at left-back. In addition to new signing Patrick Dorgu and young talent Diego Leon, Man United still have Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia.
However, in coach Amorim’s 3-4-3 or 3-5-2 formation, the two wing-backs play an extremely important role, having to do well in both attack and defense. Neither Dorgu nor Shaw can make coach Amorim feel secure.
With his Premier League experience and dynamic playing style, Estupinan fits perfectly with Amorim's philosophy. However, Manchester United's financial constraints could be a barrier to completing the deal.
The Seagulls value Estupinan at over £40m. The 27-year-old defender has two years left on his contract with Brighton, but has also expressed his desire to seek a new challenge in his career.
In an interview with El Canal Del Futbol , the Ecuadorian defender said: “The truth is that I spent three years at Brighton, learning a lot. But this transfer window will be full of changes. The club knows that I want to grow, to continue to improve.”
Since joining Brighton from Villarreal in 2021, Estupinan has established himself as one of the Premier League's most consistent left-backs, with a combination of experience, outstanding stamina and confident possession.
