At around 3:00 a.m. on September 9, a landslide occurred, a large amount of rock and soil flooded into the houses of 4 households in Phin Chai 2 village, A Lu commune, killing 7 people. In addition, according to a quick report from Bat Xat district, in Den Sang commune, 1 person was injured; in Trung Leng Ho commune, 1 person was swept away by floodwaters; in Quang Kim commune, about 66 households in the villages had their houses flooded due to rising water; 9 households in the communes were affected by landslides on the positive slope; Provincial Road 156B in Ban Qua and Quang Kim communes was deeply flooded, vehicles were temporarily unable to circulate; about 74 hectares of rice, crops and 1.8 tons of aquatic products were flooded.

The district is continuing to review and immediately move people and property out of dangerous areas. According to the latest statistics, the entire district has moved 331 households/1,457 people in high-risk areas to safety.
Lao Cai City: many roads are flooded
According to news reporters, in Lao Cai city, the water level of the Red River is rising, the risk of flooding not only occurs in low-lying areas but also directly threatens many streets and residential areas above.
Being a low-lying area, close to the drainage to the Red River, since 9 o'clock, the intersection between Cao Ba Quat Street and Hong Ha Street has been flooded with water more than 1 meter deep.
Many families have been mobilized by local forces to help move their assets to safety.
Ms. Bui Thi Phuong Thao, Chairwoman of Coc Leu Ward People's Committee, Lao Cai City said: "This area has nearly 40 households that are flooded. We have supported the relocation of all assets and people in this area. We also warn all residents in the ward to raise the spirit of 4 on-site, promptly overcome and rescue when unexpected situations occur."
Due to heavy and prolonged rains as well as strong water flow from upstream areas, the water level of the Red River continues to rise, the possibility of flooding in some communes and wards in the city is very high. Many households in communes and wards such as Thong Nhat, Binh Minh, Duyen Hai, Bac Cuong have been flooded, causing damage to many vegetable areas.
Bao Yen: many areas isolated due to rising river water
In Bao Yen district, the impact of Storm No. 3's circulation has caused water levels in river and stream basins to rise rapidly, many traffic routes have been eroded, and some areas remain isolated.
The water level has risen very high.
Initial statistics show that the flood caused a family in Hamlet 2 La, Xuan Thuong Commune to collapse; more than 100 houses were affected, mostly flooded under 1 meter; nearly 200 hectares of people's crops were buried. Prolonged floods also caused damage to 13 traffic works and 1 medical station; many national and provincial highways were partially flooded, causing traffic jams and local isolation due to the rising flood of the Red River, Chay River and streams. Currently, there is a power outage in the entire Pho Rang town area.
The locality is focusing on mobilizing local forces and people in the area to help families move their assets to safety. Bao Yen has moved 104 households in 11 communes due to flooding and the risk of landslides to safety.
Hydropower plants have announced that they are still increasing flood discharge, so the water level on the Chay River, the Red River and streams will continue to rise. Local authorities recommend that people in areas at risk of being affected proactively evacuate to safe places to protect their lives and property.
Bao Thang overcomes damage caused by Storm No. 3
In Bao Thang district, 361 houses were flooded and landslides occurred in communes and towns. Affected households have been evacuated to safety. Nearly 300 hectares of crops were affected; more than 7 hectares of aquatic products were overflowed and broken; the floods also caused landslides on many roads, large amounts of soil and rocks; some areas were locally flooded, causing temporary blockages and isolation...

National Highway 4D Lao Cai - Sa Pa jammed for hours
Due to the impact of heavy rain, since last night, September 8, on National Highway 4D from Lao Cai to Sa Pa, there have been 5 major landslides causing local traffic congestion for many hours.
The two largest landslides on National Highway 4D are at Km 116+900 and Km 117+900. The total volume of landslides at these two points is about more than 1,000 m3 of rock and soil, causing the entire road to be blocked and vehicles unable to pass.
Immediately after the landslide, the Department of Transport and Lao Cai Road Joint Stock Company put up signs to warn people. At the same time, they mobilized machinery to help with the recovery work. Currently, one lane has been cleared, ensuring traffic on the route.
