According to preliminary statistics, by 1pm on June 12, the entire commune had more than 300 houses in Dai My, Thanh Dai, Thai Chan Son and Truc Ha villages flooded to a depth of less than 1 meter. Many families had to stay up all night to pack up their belongings and move their livestock to higher ground to avoid damage.
Irrigation pumping stations were also deeply flooded; the entire crop and rice area was flooded and a buffalo died in Yeu village. So far, there have been no human casualties.
Mr. Nguyen Quoc Than - Chairman of Dai Hung Commune People's Committee - said: "The entire traffic route in the commune is currently isolated due to deep flooding. We have deployed on-site plan 4 to respond, at the same time mobilizing local shock forces to brave the rain all night, and organizing on-site evacuations."

Accordingly, the shock force mobilized and brought the elderly, the weak, the lonely, and children in deep flooded and low-lying areas to live in tall, solid houses in the village, to ensure their safety while they could not access support from outside.
According to local leaders, all efforts to evacuate, intercede, and support people were urgently carried out on the morning of June 12, under conditions of rapidly rising floodwaters. By noon of the same day, it was almost impossible to access deeply flooded, low-lying areas.
"This is a historic flood, when in the middle of summer in June, the flood water rose so quickly and unexpectedly that people could not react in time. The damage is estimated to be huge" - the leader of Dai Hung commune worried.

Meanwhile, in the mountainous district of Dong Giang, heavy rains lasting for many days have caused landslides and flooding on many inter-commune roads, causing traffic jams and damaging many areas of people's crops.
Mr. Alang Lan - Chairman of Ka Dang Commune People's Committee - said: "Heavy rain caused the stream water to rise suddenly, many crop areas in Hiep group (Ben Hien village) and Cot Buom village were severely flooded. In particular, there were at least 2 serious landslides at Ba Nga slope and Hiep group causing thousands of cubic meters of earth and rock to spill onto the road."
