These days, from early morning, members of Mr. Mua A Sua's family in Trong La village have been busy harvesting corn to deliver to traders in time.
Mr. Sua shared: “My family grows 2 hectares of corn, so we have to mobilize many people to pick it in time. This corn variety will be sweetest, chewy, and most delicious when it is ripe, so we go to the fields every day and pick the corn that ripens first, ensuring that we deliver the best corn to customers.”

Despite being busy, all four members of Mr. Sua’s family are happy because after 3 months of care, each hectare of corn yields an income of 60-90 million VND. Thanks to this money, Mr. Sua and many Mong people in Khao Mang have not only escaped poverty but also have more prosperous family lives. Televisions, motorbikes, refrigerators, machinery, etc. are all made from corn.
Mr. Vu A Gu in Trong Gau Bua village said: In recent years, thanks to the guidance of cadres on the application of science and technology, the plants have grown well, the corn is large and clean, and safe. As soon as the corn is harvested, traders buy it all, and the people are very happy.
It is known that 10 years ago, Mr. Mua A Lu - former Chief of Trong La village, Khao Mang commune (then Ho Bon commune) brought this corn variety from Dien Bien province to try planting on an area of only 200 m2.

Corn is suitable for the soil and climate, so it grows well, has high yield, is sweet, sticky, fragrant, and can be used as daily food. Seeing the effectiveness, he expanded the planting area and shared the seeds with people in the village and commune to plant together. The local Party Committee and government also encouraged people to plant this corn variety on some areas of hilly land lacking water; directed agricultural extension officers to support techniques, control pests and diseases, and help people develop the economy .
Thanks to that, Khao Mang commune now has 25 hectares of hilly land converted from ineffective crop land to growing mini sticky corn, forming a concentrated commodity specialty area. Mini corn has gradually become a specialty of the Mong people, purchased by traders in Hanoi, Quang Ninh, Thai Nguyen..., and is favored by consumers in many places.
Not only enriching local specialties, mini corn has become a poverty-reducing crop and enriching many Mong people in Khao Mang. Every year, Khao Mang supplies the market with about 1.5 million corn cobs, bringing in nearly 2 billion VND in value to the people.
