Muong Chien develops trade and services

Mr. Nguyen Huu Chung, Chairman of the Commune People's Committee, informed: The commune upgrades the central market area and market sessions in the old Muong Chien and Ca Nang areas; encourages households, organizations and individuals to expand their business investment; promotes communication and promotion, introducing typical products and goods of the region.

Up to now, Muong Chien has 147 service and commercial establishments, mainly trading in groceries, clothes, shoes, household appliances; food services, restaurants, motels; mechanical and electronic repairs; trading in construction materials, agricultural products, local specialties... The total retail sales of goods in the past 7 months of the commune reached nearly 20 billion VND.

Taking advantage of its location in the center of the commune, many households in Co Luong village have invested and expanded their production and business scale. Mr. Lo Van Pan, Party cell secretary and village head, said: Out of 118 households in the village, 42 households develop business and services, mainly selling groceries; supplying agricultural materials. In 2024, the average income will reach over 45 million VND/person/year; the village will have only 5 poor households.

Located on the banks of the Son La hydroelectric lake, with beautiful natural scenery and natural springs, Bon village focuses on developing tourism associated with community accommodation services, attracting visitors to visit and experience. Ms. Hoang Thi Dung, Director of Bon village community tourism cooperative, said: The cooperative has 10 members who have invested in hot mineral bath services, built water wheels and bamboo bridges along Nam Chien stream, bringing visitors experiences close to nature. Each year, the cooperative welcomes more than 3,000 visitors, bringing in stable income, helping many members escape poverty.

Resolution of the 1st Congress of Muong Chien Commune Party Committee, term 2025-2030, identified the breakthrough point "Focusing on exploiting the potentials and strengths of the locality to develop trade and community tourism associated with preserving and promoting national cultural identity".

Mr. Nguyen Huu Chung, Chairman of the Commune People's Committee, added: The commune focuses on prioritizing the synchronous development of service and commercial infrastructure. Review, create land funds and flexibly apply State mechanisms and policies to encourage, support and attract enterprises and cooperatives to invest in building a network of supermarkets, convenience stores, petrol stations; develop accommodation facilities, entertainment areas and restaurants. Strive by 2030, there will be 3-5 enterprises established and attracted to invest in the area; welcome 20,000 tourists, revenue reaching over 10 billion VND; the poverty rate according to the multidimensional poverty standard is below 5%.

At the end of July, our province started construction of Provincial Road 107C Project, from Muong Chien commune to Nam So commune, Lai Chau province, with a total length of 21 km. When the road is completed, it will create a traffic axis connecting the two provinces of Son La and Lai Chau, promoting trade, developing tourism in the Son La hydroelectric reservoir, forming a concentrated raw material area, supporting the completion of new rural construction criteria, opening up opportunities for Muong Chien to develop service business.

Exploiting potential advantages, Muong Chien continues to reform administrative procedures; call for and attract investment, create conditions for people to access preferential loans, promote the private economy, and contribute to local socio-economic development.
