With the increasing demand of consumers for clean, safe products with clear origins, farmers and cooperatives are required to actively improve the quality of fruit products and build reputation for business on digital platforms. Currently, there are 4 cooperatives producing according to safe processes such as VietGAP, GlobalGAP, organic, with a total area of over 100 hectares. Recording the production process, providing full product information with garden owners and cooperatives, helps consumers scan QR codes to look up information before deciding to choose a product; some households have participated in livestream sales training, recording short videos describing each production stage. Thanks to that, Muong Coi's citrus fruit products have received high appreciation from partners, customers and consumers inside and outside the province. The selling price of sweet oranges and tangerines is maintained at a stable level of 25-35 thousand VND/kg.
Mr. Tran Van Tuan, Phu Thinh Agricultural Service Cooperative, Muong Coi Commune, shared: The Cooperative grows 15 hectares of oranges and grapefruits, applying the planting and care process according to VietGAP standards. In particular, for oranges, potassium fertilizer is used to add sweetness to the fruit. At the same time, weather developments are monitored to proactively take measures to prevent and control pests and diseases. Particularly for insects such as bees, flies, etc., members of the Cooperative use natural traps to minimize the use of pesticides, bringing clean and safe products.
In the past 6 months, the weather has been complicated, creating favorable conditions for many types of plant diseases such as anthracnose, fungi, etc. to develop. Muong Coi commune has proactively coordinated with specialized agencies to guide farmers in applying measures to prevent pests and diseases in crops; using lime powder to disinfect the soil, and applying phosphate fertilizer to stimulate root development. For grapefruit, households have been instructed to wrap the fruit to ensure quality when harvested.
Mr. Phan Ngoc Linh, Chairman of Muong Coi Commune People's Committee, said: The commune continues to encourage households to participate in establishing cooperatives to link production, apply safe technical processes, improve productivity, quality and competitiveness of products. Support cooperatives to promote products, connect consumption. In addition, the commune organizes to review and count crop areas showing signs of degeneration, low fruit production, to proactively renovate or plant new trees after the 2025 fruit crop.
Citrus fruit growers in Muong Coi have been actively applying scientific advances to production, with the desire to produce clean and safe products, gradually building the Muong Coi citrus brand, expanding the domestic consumption market and aiming for export.
