In early August, Nam Nhe II bridge, Muong Toong commune, Muong Nhe district (at Km135+850, National Highway 4H from Muong Cha to Muong Nhe) was severely damaged, unsafe for people and vehicles, forcing traffic to be temporarily suspended across the bridge. It is worth mentioning that Nam Nhe II bridge is located on the vital traffic route connecting the westernmost border district with other localities in the province. Although Muong Nhe district has coordinated with relevant units to open a bypass through Nam Vi commune, traffic into Muong Nhe district is still relatively difficult, leading to the transportation of goods and passengers not being as convenient as before. Many means of transporting goods even have to accept a detour when moving to Muong Te district, Lai Chau province, especially with goods that cannot be "increased" across streams or temporary bridges. And of course, transportation costs will increase, and many goods will be difficult to supply fully and promptly as before. This is also part of the reason why the number of tourists coming to Muong Nhe during the recent National Day holiday on September 2 did not meet expectations due to the fear of traffic difficulties when passing through the Nam Nhe II bridge area. It was not until mid-September, when the temporary bridge was completed, that traffic through this vital route of Muong Nhe district basically stabilized again...
That is just one of many examples of how traffic greatly affects socio -economic development, especially in a particularly difficult border district like Muong Nhe. Therefore, in recent times, Muong Nhe district has always identified traffic as one of the important criteria in building new rural areas, a premise to promote socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and security. Every year, the district mobilizes many sources of investment capital from the State; at the same time, mobilizes people to join hands to contribute resources to speed up the construction progress of inter-village and inter-commune roads. Along with that, the district organizes and implements timely maintenance and repair of roads, ensuring the quality of construction of invested traffic works. Thanks to that, it increasingly meets the needs of trade and serves the production development of local people. Up to now, Muong Nhe district has 275km of district and commune roads, of which 97.6km are paved with asphalt and concrete, 61 villages have solid car roads to the village. In the whole district, 11/11 communes in the district have car roads to the commune center; 7/11 communes meet the criteria for new rural traffic...
In 2022, the Nam Vi - Nam Sin route, over 11km long, connecting Chung Chai commune with Nam Vi commune, leading to National Highway 4H to the district center, was completed, contributing to promoting the socio-economic development of both localities. Not only that, the completion of this route also contributed to breaking the monopoly that hindered the development of Nam Vi commune. Mr. Giang A Sinh, Vice Chairman of Nam Vi Commune People's Committee shared: "Before this road was built, people in the commune had a lot of difficulty traveling. Especially people in Huoi Lom, Van Ho, Cay So villages who wanted to go to the commune center or to the district had to take the small road along Nam Vi stream. It was very dangerous during the rainy season. Now that there is a new concrete road, large cars can also travel. Therefore, agricultural products can also be transported by motorbike to the district center. Moreover, the completion of this road helps the two communes of Nam Vi - Chung Chai to connect and trade more conveniently instead of the small road as before...".
Not only the Nam Vi - Nam Sin route, in 2022, the Quang Lam - Huoi Lu - Pa My connecting route with a length of over 21km will be newly opened to serve 980 households, with over 5,000 people benefiting. Mr. Pham My Nam, Chairman of Pa My Commune People's Committee, said: With this route, Pa My people will have much less hardship. First, there is a route connecting the villages in the commune. The route also connects 5/10 villages with car roads. Then there is the connection between Pa My commune and Quang Lam commune, creating conditions for people to travel easily, convenient for business households to trade and exchange goods. Having this route is also one of the criteria in building new rural areas in terms of economic infrastructure development in Pa My commune...
In the coming time, Muong Nhe district will continue to focus on developing the transport network, increasing connection density, route length and road traffic quality. At the same time, focus on upgrading and investing in expanding a number of routes to exploit the district's potential, especially developing trade and tourism services...
