US, France, Japan, ASEAN and many countries congratulate Vietnam's National Day

On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of National Day, leaders of many countries sent congratulatory messages to the leaders of the Party, State and people of Vietnam.

Malaysia: Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim sent a congratulatory letter to General Secretary To Lam and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh ; King Al-Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar sent a congratulatory letter to President Luong Cuong.

The Malaysian leaders were pleased that Vietnam and Malaysia had upgraded their relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2024, a historic milestone in the relationship and opening up opportunities for extensive cooperation. The Malaysian leaders appreciated Vietnam's cooperation in supporting Malaysia in its capacity as ASEAN Chair in 2025. The Malaysian leaders looked forward to working closely with the Vietnamese leaders to achieve more substantive results in the bilateral relationship.

Brunei: Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah sent a congratulatory message to President Luong Cuong and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh. The Sultan affirmed that Brunei always attaches importance to the Comprehensive Partnership with Vietnam. The Sultan wishes to further promote friendship and cooperation during his upcoming State visit to Vietnam.

Indonesia: President Prabowo Subianto sent a congratulatory letter to President Luong Cuong and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh. President Prabowo affirmed that Indonesia and Vietnam have built a strong and continuous relationship over the past 7 decades. The two countries have upgraded their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and will continue to cooperate closely.

Philippines: President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. sent congratulatory letters to General Secretary To Lam, President Luong Cuong, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh; Senate President Francis Escudero and House Speaker Martin Romualdez sent congratulatory letters to National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man.

The Philippine leaders expressed their admiration for the Vietnamese people’s spirit of unity and indomitability, which has been a source of inspiration to many countries, including the Philippines. The Philippine leaders highly appreciated Vietnam’s journey of international integration and rapid economic development. The leaders reaffirmed the long-standing ties between the people of the Philippines and Vietnam, and looked forward to strengthening bilateral relations.

Thailand: King Maha Vajiralongkorn sent a congratulatory message to President Luong Cuong, and Acting Prime Minister Phumtham Wechayachai sent a congratulatory message to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.

Thai leaders highly appreciated the resilience and solidarity of the Vietnamese people in the cause of national development. The two countries have just upgraded their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, and Thai leaders affirmed their desire to further strengthen cooperation, especially in trade, investment, infrastructure, education and culture.

Singapore: Prime Minister and Secretary-General of the People's Action Party of Singapore (PAP) Lawrence Wong sent a congratulatory letter to General Secretary To Lam and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh; Speaker of the National Assembly Seah Kian Peng sent a congratulatory letter to Speaker of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man.

Singaporean leaders highly appreciated the friendship, political trust and multifaceted cooperation between the two countries, affirming that the newly established Comprehensive Strategic Partnership will create a solid foundation for stronger and more substantial cooperation. Singapore wishes to increase contacts and delegation exchanges at all levels and channels, and closely coordinate in both bilateral and multilateral cooperation.

Timor Leste: President José Ramos-Horta sent a congratulatory letter to President Luong Cuong.

The President highly appreciated the historical significance of the August Revolution, which inspired people around the world in the fight to protect freedom and national sovereignty. The President highly appreciated the good friendship between the two countries, affirming his desire to continue to strengthen cooperation in the context of Timor-Leste actively preparing to join ASEAN.

South Korea: President Lee Jae Myung sent a congratulatory message to President Luong Cuong.

President Lee Jae Myung believes that on the basis of firm trust and deep affection between the people of the two countries, the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership will develop even stronger to a new level.

US: Secretary of State Marco Rubio sent a message with the most sincere and warmest wishes to the people of Vietnam. Secretary of State Rubio highly appreciated Vietnam's impressive development.

Vietnam is an important partner in the region, increasingly playing a leading role in addressing common global challenges. As 2025 marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-US diplomatic relations, Secretary Rubio was proud of the progress made within the framework of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries, while reaffirming the commitment to strengthening the relationship to promote peace, prosperity and security.

Japan: Chairman of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), Prime Minister Ishiba Shigeru sent a congratulatory letter to General Secretary To Lam and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh; Emperor Naruhito sent a congratulatory message to President Luong Cuong; Speaker of the House of Representatives Nukaga Fukushiro and President of the Senate Sekiguchi Masakazu sent congratulatory letters to Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man.

The leaders of the ruling party and the Japanese National Assembly expressed their deep respect for the dedicated contributions of Vietnamese leaders to the country's construction and development, and welcomed Vietnam's reforms towards a new era.

New Zealand: Governor-General Cindy Kiro sent a congratulatory letter to President Luong Cuong, Prime Minister Christopher Luxon sent a congratulatory letter to General Secretary To Lam and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh; National Assembly Chairman Gerry Brownlee sent a congratulatory letter to National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man.

New Zealand leaders stressed that the milestone on 2 September this year is a testament to Vietnam’s impressive development journey over the past eight decades. Vietnam’s remarkable achievements in economic development and social progress continue to inspire the international community.

2025 also holds special significance for Vietnam-New Zealand relations as the two countries celebrate 50 years of diplomatic relations.

New Zealand leaders believe that the Vietnam - New Zealand Comprehensive Strategic Partnership will continue to develop on the basis of strong friendship, mutual respect and shared commitment.

Australia: Governor-General Samantha Mostyn sends congratulatory letter to President Luong Cuong.

The Governor-General stressed that this is a “milestone marking eight decades of nation building, socio-economic development, with the spirit of outstanding innovation and resilience of the Vietnamese people”. Australia and Vietnam are sustainable partners, the relationship between the two countries is built on a foundation of strategic trust. The two sides are continuing to realize their vision and commitments within the framework of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, in which people-to-people exchange is a particularly important foundation.

The Governor General hopes to soon visit and witness the development of Vietnam.

France: President Emmanuel Macron sent a congratulatory letter to General Secretary To Lam and President Luong Cuong; Prime Minister François Bayrou sent a congratulatory letter to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.

The French leaders stressed that the two countries' upgrading of relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership during the visit to France by General Secretary and President To Lam in October 2024 has created a new momentum for bilateral relations. Based on the established trust, the two countries will work together to build an ambitious partnership between Vietnam and France, as well as with EU and ASEAN partners.

French leaders reaffirmed their commitment to continue promoting close relations with Vietnam, while working to build “an independent alliance” between Europe and Asia with the EU and ASEAN at the core.

ASEAN Secretary-General Kao Kim Hourn sent a congratulatory letter to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.

The ASEAN Secretary General highlighted Vietnam's important contributions in 30 years of joining ASEAN, helping to strengthen solidarity, ASEAN's central role, promoting the process of building the ASEAN Community and regional integration.
