Joining in the atmosphere of the opening day of students across the country, from early morning, students from Ethnic Boarding Schools and schools in ethnic minority and border areas wore their most beautiful and colorful traditional costumes to school.

At the Viet Bac High School ( Thai Nguyen ), Minister of Ethnic Minorities and Religions Dao Ngoc Dung attended the opening ceremony and encouraged and supported teachers and students in the school. Also attending were Mr. Pham Hoang Son, Chairman of Thai Nguyen Provincial People's Committee; leaders of a number of Departments and units under the Ministry of Ethnic Minorities and Religions; representatives of departments and branches of Thai Nguyen province.

Every year, Viet Bac High School has more than 95% of students passing the university entrance exam in the first round.
In the 2023-2024 school year, the school won 2 gold medals and 1 special prize at the International Science and Technology Olympiad in Korea; 19 students won national excellent student awards, including 2 first prizes; 291 students won provincial excellent student awards.

The school enrolls 10th graders for ethnic minority students from the northern mountainous provinces (from Quang Binh and above), with an enrollment scale of about 650-800 10th graders each year.

However, according to the latest regulations, non-ethnic minority students can also be considered for admission if they and their families have lived stably (at least 36 months) in particularly difficult areas.
