The US and Italy showcase their hundred-year-old fireworks heritage at the second competition night of DIFF 2024

Thousands of tourists and locals turned their eyes to the night sky of Da Nang to enjoy the "masterpieces" of light between two equally matched opponents, the US and Italy, on the evening of June 15.

With the theme “Made of Nature Wisdom - Natural Masterpieces”, the second competition night of the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival DIFF 2024 left many unforgettable impressions in the hearts of visitors. Surprise after surprise, the audience was continuously amazed by a series of eye-catching fireworks effects, in a breathtaking light battle between the rookie US and the former champion Italy.

The Italian team opened the night with a masterpiece titled “The Radiant Universe: Symphony of Lights”. Having won the DIFF championship two years in a row in 2017 and 2018, the Italian team brought their experience and understanding of the audience to their performance. The performance began with a series of fireworks fired in layers along the banks of the Han River.

The colorful and shaped fireworks immediately attracted everyone's attention, and then the "big bang" of hundreds of high-altitude fireworks exploded with a resounding sound, lighting up the entire night sky of Da Nang, making the audience burst into surprise and happiness.

This year, the Italian team “played a trick” by using many low-altitude fireworks displays, creating unique light patterns that interacted with the Han River. The delicately designed fireworks burst into the sky, creating the shape of blooming flowers, lush green grass and shimmering white clouds. The audience seemed to see a watercolor painting of the beautiful country of Vietnam, where nature and people blend into one.

“We try to find the best quality products to ensure great results. We even prepare extremely good quality products because we want you to be shocked when you see it,” said Damiano Baraldo, Martarello’s team leader.

No less impressive, the "newbie" DIFF from the US with more than 130 years of experience fighting around the world brought an unforgettable fireworks performance, a sophisticated combination of violin, rock, EDM, jazz and the most advanced fireworks techniques.

Unlike Italy, the team from the US brought a sweeter and more romantic performance. The audience was treated to emotional dances of light in the sky. The performance “Humanity – A Bridge Between Nations” took visitors on a world tour with many emotions.

Each cluster of fireworks has its own meaning, painting a diverse picture of human experience. Color and music blend together, expressing the harmonious coexistence of cultures.

“We’re putting on a very complex show,” said U.S. team captain Nancy Rozzi. “But it’s all synchronized. You’re seeing all the variations of color. It’s the kind of entertainment that we hope the audience will feel or enjoy.”
