According to information from the Capital Command, in 2024, Hanoi will have 3,700 citizens joining the army (including 1,471 young volunteers who wrote applications to join the army), and 794 citizens performing their duty to join the People's Public Security.
This morning's meeting was attended by 110 outstanding young volunteers who will join the army in 2024 from Bac Tu Liem, Nam Tu Liem, Cau Giay, Thanh Xuan districts, Hoai Duc district ( Hanoi ) and 10 outstanding discharged soldiers who have completed their service and returned to their localities.
In particular, the appearance of People's Armed Forces Hero La Van Cau added confidence and enthusiasm to the capital's youth today, ready to set out to fulfill their sacred duty to the Fatherland.
At the age of 16, hero La Van Cau volunteered to join the army in the midst of bombs and bullets. The driving force that urged him to go to war was his hatred for the enemy, his ardent patriotism, his love for the people and his comrades, and his determination to fight with the whole country and defeat the enemy.
He once again affirmed that until now, no enemy can stop the progress of our nation, cannot stop the footsteps of the young generation to fight and defeat the enemy. "We are forever proud to be worthy of the tradition of fighting foreign invaders to protect the heroic Vietnamese Fatherland" - he said.
Recalling the heroic years in the army, hero La Van Cau shared that throughout his military years he always strived to uphold his political responsibility to the Fatherland and the people.
Moved by the sharing of his predecessors, new recruit To Dang Quang - a typical young man who wrote an application to join the army - expressed his determination to join the army with the desire to be trained and strive in the military environment to contribute his small part to protect the Fatherland.
To encourage young people to join the army, the Hanoi Youth Union and units presented certificates and gifts to outstanding young people joining the army, and presented certificates of merit and gifts to 10 outstanding discharged soldiers.
At the same time, 10 savings books were presented to outstanding young volunteers who applied to join the army with difficult circumstances (each book worth 5 million VND) and jobs were connected to discharged soldiers in need.
