In 2024, despite facing many challenges such as global inflation, high production costs, increased smuggling and competition from new generation cigarettes, the Vietnamese tobacco industry still achieved positive results, the whole industry paid 25,466.5 billion VND to the State budget. The Association has also proactively and actively coordinated with functional forces to prevent and combat tobacco smuggling and illegal trade of counterfeit tobacco products; participated in giving opinions on building state management policies related to the industry's activities; contributed nearly 27 billion VND to social and charitable activities.
In 2025, the Vietnam Tobacco Association has identified a number of key tasks including: Developing medium and high-end products, gradually reducing popular products; promoting the use of domestic raw materials, investing in sustainable growing areas; strongly applying new technology, automation and digital transformation in production; closely coordinating with competent authorities to prevent and combat tobacco smuggling; actively participating in policy making on issues related to industry development; strengthening international cooperation, promoting trade and expanding export markets.
