Hue City's valedictorian and his dream of becoming a Law lecturer

These days, students and teachers of Quoc Hoc High School for the Gifted in Hue were happy to hear that Dau Nguyen Thai Binh, a 12th grade Math 1 student at the school, became the valedictorian of Hue City and was the candidate with the 2025 High School Graduation Exam score in the top 4 nationwide with a total score of 38.25 points in 4 subjects.

To achieve this excellent achievement is a long journey of learning efforts of Dau Nguyen Thai Binh . Born into a family with a tradition of studiousness and with a mother who is a teacher at Quoc Hoc High School for the Gifted in Hue, from a young age, Dau Nguyen Thai Binh has cultivated the virtue of diligence and studiousness. With diligence and intelligence, he has achieved many outstanding achievements through all levels of education. After passing the entrance exam to the specialized Math class at Quoc Hoc High School for the Gifted in Hue, Thai Binh also participated in the National Science and Technology Competition for high school students in the 2022-2023 school year and was honored to bring home the second prize for the school. With this excellent achievement, he was directly admitted to the University of Law (Hue University) with a scholarship equivalent to the full tuition fee.

Talking to us, Binh shared that it was not because he was admitted directly to the University that he neglected his studies. On the contrary, during his 3 years of high school at Quoc Hoc Hue High School for the Gifted, he always tried his best to study to achieve the highest scores. And the proof is that in the recent 2025 High School Graduation Exam, Binh had a total score of 38.25 points in 4 subjects, including 9 points in Math; 9.5 points in Literature; 9.75 points in Physics and 10 points in Chemistry. This score helped Thai Binh become the valedictorian of Hue City in this year's High School Graduation Exam and ranked in the top 4 nationwide.

As the class monitor of the Math 1 class at Quoc Hoc High School for the Gifted in Hue, Binh's Math score was the lowest among the four subjects, while his Literature score was 9.5. Sharing about this, Binh said that he was very happy with his score but still had regrets about the Math test. "For Literature, to do well, I prepared myself mentally before the exam and focused on reviewing and mastering the knowledge in the textbook to solve the requirements of the exam structure. I selected the necessary information to put into the essay and then analyzed the ideas with accurate arguments according to my personal point of view. Thanks to that, I got 9.5 points in Literature," Binh shared his secret on how to do the Literature test.

After receiving the results of the 2025 High School Graduation Exam, Binh said he plans to apply to the University of Law (Hue University) to study and fulfill his dream of becoming a Law lecturer. “I would like to thank my parents, friends and teachers at Quoc Hoc Hue High School for the Gifted who have always accompanied, supported, guided and taught me to help me progress and achieve high academic results. I will remember the teachings of my teachers and this will be the luggage for me to confidently enter the university lecture hall,” Binh added.

Mr. Nguyen Tan, Director of the Department of Education and Training of Hue City, said that in addition to Dau Nguyen Thai Binh, who was the valedictorian of Hue City, in the 2025 high school graduation exam, there were also a number of other students from high schools in the city who achieved high graduation exam scores. Thanks to that, Hue City ranked 9th out of 34 provinces and cities with the highest high school graduation exam scores in the country in 2025, up 14 places compared to 2024. The score distribution of many subjects of candidates taking the exam in Hue City has improved. Notably, Hue City has 5 subjects in the group of 10 localities leading the country in terms of average scores.

Specifically, Chemistry ranked 2nd with an average score of 6.57; Math ranked 7th with an average score of 4.88; Literature ranked 7th with an average score of 7.19; Geography ranked 7th with an average score of 6.79; Physics ranked 9th with an average score of 7.14. Compared to last year, the average scores of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Literature, History, and Geography all remained stable or only slightly decreased. Math alone scored 4.88 points, higher than the national average of 4.78 points. In the 2025 high school graduation exam, 26/49 educational institutions in Hue City achieved a 100% graduation rate. Many schools have maintained high achievements over the years, demonstrating the efforts in improving the quality of education of the Hue City education sector.
