The sun was scorching hot in early July, but on the training ground, officers and soldiers of Company 3, Battalion 1, Air Defense Brigade 214, Military Region 3 were still diligently studying the structure, features, and functions of the components of the 57mm anti-aircraft gun. Although they were new to specialized content, the soldiers absorbed the lesson quite quickly.
Private Tran Van Tung Duong, a soldier of Battery 3, Platoon 1, Company 3, shared: “The 57mm anti-aircraft gun is large in size, heavy, and has many complicated parts and details. However, we have learned the structure and functions of infantry guns, so we do not encounter any obstacles when dealing with the gun. Some details and parts of the gun have names and functions that are relatively similar to infantry weapons, so we can easily understand and remember them.”

Monitoring and maintaining the training unit, Captain Nguyen Duc Viet, Company 3 Commander said: The soldiers have just completed 3 months of training for new soldiers at the Military School of Military Region 3, have adapted to the military environment, so when returning to the unit, they all voluntarily comply with and strictly follow the regular rules, address and greet according to the regulations. The training intensity of some specialized air defense contents is quite high,
After the training period for new soldiers, the army gradually matures, realizing their duties and responsibilities towards the Fatherland. In addition to basic knowledge of military and national defense, soldiers are trained to skillfully use many types of weapons and technical equipment according to their organization; master the regulations on army management and formation; have a mature demeanor, good health, and a sense of self-discipline and strictness. This is the fundamental factor that helps soldiers enter the specialized training stage with high results.
We learned that the results of the first 3 months of training new soldiers are an important criterion for unit commanders to select and assign soldiers to specialized units. Lieutenant Colonel Luu Van Huy, Commander of Regiment 2, Division 395, Military Region 3 said: "Comrades with standard height and command movements will be selected for the guard platoon; comrades with good health will be selected and assigned to firepower companies such as: SPG-9, 100mm Mortar, 12.7mm Anti-Aircraft Machine Gun... Such assignment helps soldiers promote their abilities and strengths, thereby improving the quality of training and combat readiness of the unit".

Thoroughly implementing the training principle from low to high, from simple to complex, in the initial phase of specialized training, units focus on teaching theoretical lessons combined with individual practice exercises. Lieutenant Colonel Pham Dinh Hue, Deputy Chief of Staff of Brigade 454, Military Region 3 said: "We focus on training soldiers to grasp the structure, features, and functions of the parts of the 105mm and 130mm guns, combined with training the order and actions of each number in the battery. When soldiers are proficient in using weapons and equipment, and have a firm grasp of their roles and tasks, then they will conduct joint training in battery and platoon formations."
Although there is a foundation of 3 months of training for new soldiers, when they arrive at their new units, the soldiers are trained in depth in techniques and tactics, so the training will be more difficult, more strenuous, and the training intensity will be higher. Therefore, unit commanders are often close to the soldiers, grasp their thoughts and feelings, and promptly encourage them to overcome initial difficulties. In addition, units do not put too much emphasis on achievements to avoid pressure on the soldiers, helping them gradually adapt to the new environment.
