Implement good preventive medicine work

Thai Binh is considered one of the provinces that maintains and implements preventive medicine well. The province's preventive medicine system has made strong and in-depth developments, promptly responding to many dangerous pandemics and epidemics; effectively implementing health programs and goals.

In response to the developments of the epidemic situation, the sector has proactively updated, analyzed, warned, forecasted, advised, organized, and coordinated the effective implementation of response activities. Thanks to that, many epidemics (such as influenza A/H5N1, influenza A/H1N1, dengue fever, measles, malaria, Covid-19) have been prevented early, monitored, detected, promptly handled, and effectively controlled in the province...

With the investment attention of the province, Thai Binh health sector has a physical and chemical testing laboratory that meets ISO 17025 standards, a biochemistry laboratory that meets ISO 15189 standards. From there, it has been able to deploy high-tech microbiological and biochemical tests (immunological techniques; molecular biology; HIV viral load; hepatitis B, C; hormone tests, pre-cancer factors...).

When the focus of population work shifted from “population - family planning” to “population and development”, the sector promptly advised and implemented solutions and achieved many results. The population size of Thai Binh province gradually stabilized, the natural population growth rate decreased from 6.9% in 2019 to 0.32% in 2023.

Food safety work has been implemented seriously and effectively, preventing mass food poisoning incidents. The targets and tasks in the target health program such as: prevention and control of leprosy, tuberculosis, dengue fever; expanded immunization; reproductive health; health communication and education; HIV/AIDS prevention, non-communicable disease prevention, occupational disease prevention... have all met and exceeded the set plan.

Thai Binh Provincial General Hospital has mastered coronary intervention techniques using DSA since 2017, taking advantage of the "golden time" to save many cases of myocardial infarction, shortening recovery time and reducing treatment costs.

Innovation, improving the quality of medical examination and treatment

In the period of 2015 - 2025, in response to the requirements of integration, development and the increasing demand for health care of the people, medical examination and treatment have clearly innovated and changed in both medical ethics and expertise.

The sector has focused on developing a network of medical examination and treatment to ensure systematic and effective operation between treatment levels, between public and non-public hospitals, between modern medicine and traditional medicine. The quality of medical examination, treatment and rehabilitation for the people is increasingly improved.

Provincial medical units continue to affirm their position, developing many advanced and specialized techniques, such as open heart surgery; cardiovascular intervention; radiotherapy for cancer treatment; brain and spine surgery... (techniques that previously could only be performed at the central level), helping people easily access high-tech medical services right in the province, reducing the rate of patients having to be transferred to other levels, and reducing costs for patients' families during treatment.

District hospitals have also made breakthroughs and developed rapidly and strongly, especially the promotion of 4 district general hospitals from grade III to grade II (Nam Tien Hai Hospital, Phu Duc Hospital, Thai Ninh Hospital and Hung Nhan Hospital). Along with that, district hospitals have continuously improved their professional quality, providing high-quality medical services, such as hemodialysis, endoscopic surgery, etc.

Every year, hospitals in the province receive and examine about 3 million people, provide inpatient treatment for nearly 400,000 people, examine and treat nearly 700,000 poor people and people in difficult circumstances..., the rate of recovery and improvement or reduction of illness reaches over 90%. Along with provincial and district health care, the quality of management and primary health care for people at grassroots health care is also constantly improved.

Medical units are actively improving the quality of patient care, implementing digital transformation, facilitating management, reducing administrative procedures, and minimizing errors. Thai Binh Children's Hospital and Thai Binh Traditional Medicine Hospital have successfully deployed Electronic Medical Records, fully integrating HIS, LIS, and PACS subsystems. This combination not only helps optimize the management process, but also creates a perfect closed model in the application of information technology in the medical field.

In addition, hospitals have also implemented many solutions to promote the application of information technology, digital transformation, and move towards digital healthcare. Thai Binh's health sector is also actively cooperating with units to provide many modern services, such as smart kiosks, cashless payments, and automatic queue numbering for patients...

People's health has improved significantly.

Thai Binh's healthcare system is increasingly consolidated and developed. The province has issued many policies, mechanisms and guidelines in the healthcare sector; facilities and medical equipment at healthcare facilities have been invested in and upgraded; the qualifications of doctors and healthcare workers have been gradually improved.

The health situation of the people has improved significantly, the province has an average of 13.5 doctors/10,000 people and 40.4 hospital beds/10,000 people; the rate of doctors and pharmacists with postgraduate degrees is 38.5%. The quality of the population has gradually improved, many health indicators are at a high level compared to the national average: 85% of the population is under health care; the average life expectancy of the people is 75.4 years old; the natural population growth rate is 0.3%; the rate of children under 1 year old receiving expanded immunization with 12 types of vaccines is 95%; the rate of children under 5 years old with malnutrition in terms of weight/age has decreased to 8.4%, in terms of height/age has decreased to 10.2%...

The achievements of Thai Binh health sector in the period of 2015 - 2025 are a source of pride and a clear demonstration of the efforts and determination of the medical staff in the whole sector.

On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of Vietnamese Doctors' Day (February 27, 1955 - February 27, 2025), the entire medical sector of Thai Binh always affirms that caring for, protecting and improving people's health is a responsibility, but also a sacred and noble mission of a doctor.

In the coming period, the task of the sector is to continue to build and develop a network of medical facilities to be gradually modern and synchronous, ensuring development and harmony between medical examination and treatment and preventive medicine, improving the quality of medical services and taking care of people's health; building Thai Binh into a modern medical center in the region; streamlining the apparatus, efficiency, effectiveness and efficiency and reducing staff, promoting staff capacity; developing science and technology, innovation, strong digital transformation, achieving many outstanding results in the new era, the era of national development.
