Felix Nmecha scored the only goal in first-half stoppage time as Dortmund beat Newcastle in a match the visitors had to win to keep their hopes of progressing alive. The German side's first win in Group F saw Dortmund move above Newcastle on head-to-head record with both teams level on four points.
Newcastle cannot maintain impressive streak
Newcastle marked their return to Europe's top competition for the first time in 20 years with impressive form, especially a 4-1 win over PSG three weeks ago. But the Magpies were unable to maintain that form after a disappointing performance at their home ground St James' Park.

In Group G, Erling Haaland ended his five-game Champions League goal drought with a brace as Man City beat hosts Young Boys 3-1. The win took Pep Guardiola's side to the top of Group G after three wins, and a result against Young Boys at the Etihad Stadium next month will ensure Man City progress to the last 16.
Barcelona continued their winning run in Champions League Group H with a 2-1 win over Shakhtar Donetsk, giving them a morale-boosting boost ahead of El Clasico against Real Madrid this weekend. With three wins from three, Barcelona have one foot in the next round.
