On March 4, in Hanoi, Permanent Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Vu and First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Vladimir Titov co-chaired the 13th Vietnam-Russia Strategic Dialogue on Diplomacy, Defense and Security.
The two sides reviewed bilateral cooperation in all areas, especially political -diplomatic, defense-security, trade-investment, and cooperation at multilateral forums, as well as discussed regional and international issues of mutual concern.
The two sides acknowledged the positive results achieved in cooperation in recent times, especially the active exchange of delegations and contacts at all levels, especially at high levels in 2023. The two sides affirmed their determination to maintain and promote substantive and effective bilateral cooperation in the coming time, and strive to implement the agreed cooperation agreements and projects.
The two countries will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty on the Basic Principles of Friendly Relations between Vietnam and Russia (June 1994 - June 2024) and the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries (January 1950 - January 2025).
Deputy Foreign Minister Titov affirmed that Russia attaches importance to and wishes to develop substantive relations with Vietnam, considering Vietnam a reliable partner of Russia. He suggested that the two foreign ministries continue to promote their coordinating role in implementing bilateral agreements, removing obstacles, and expanding cooperation in potential areas.
The world and regional situation is changing, and the two sides agreed that it is necessary to maintain the effectiveness of the annual Strategic Dialogue mechanism to promptly promote bilateral cooperation, as well as exchange information and coordinate at multilateral forums.
The two sides affirmed that they will maintain close cooperation at the United Nations, within the framework of ASEAN-Russia cooperation, as well as at other international forums, for peace and stability in the region and the world.
Previously, on the afternoon of March 3, during a meeting with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Vladimir Titov, Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son highly appreciated the two sides maintaining the strategic dialogue mechanism, which is an exchange channel to promote multifaceted cooperation between the two countries.
Minister Bui Thanh Son affirmed that Vietnam attaches great importance to the traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership with Russia. Russia is one of the top priority partners in Vietnam's foreign policy.
In the spirit of openness and mutual trust, the Minister hopes that the two sides will continue to coordinate to resolve difficulties and problems, promote potential areas of cooperation, in accordance with the aspirations and interests of the people of the two countries.
The First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia highly appreciated the political trust and regular delegation exchanges at all levels, especially high-level, between the two countries as well as the diverse development of bilateral and multilateral cooperation between Vietnam and Russia.
The Deputy Minister hopes that the Foreign Ministries of the two countries will maintain the tradition of good cooperation, promote the role of coordinating and urging effective bilateral cooperation between the two countries, as well as closely coordinate in the international arena.
The two sides agreed to promote delegation exchanges at all levels and remove obstacles to enhance economic-trade and education-training cooperation.
