This is an activity held on the occasion of the 71st anniversary of the Capital Liberation Day (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2025), welcoming the success of the 18th Hanoi Party Congress for the 2025 - 2030 term, towards the 14th National Congress of the Party.
The 8th Press Award on Cultural Development and Building Elegant and Civilized Hanoians in 2025 is organized to promote the traditional cultural values of Thang Long - Hanoi "Thousand years of civilization, Heroic Capital, City for Peace , Creative City"; develop cultural industry associated with preserving and promoting typical tangible and intangible cultural values, building Hanoi Capital to truly be a major cultural center of the whole country.
In addition, educating and fostering patriotism, national pride, revolutionary ideals, qualities, ethics, lifestyle, personality, communication and behavioral culture; creating strong changes in awareness, compliance and responsibility in enforcing the law; being proud of and honoring the historical and cultural traditions of the nation and the Capital.
Mr. Nguyen Doan Toan, Standing Committee Member, Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Committee of the City Party Committee, Head of the Organizing Committee of the press award, spoke at the award ceremony.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Doan Toan, Member of the Standing Committee, Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Committee of the City Party Committee, Head of the Organizing Committee of the press award, said that the press award on cultural development and building elegant and civilized Hanoians is an initiative of profound political, social and humanistic significance of the Hanoi Party Committee, held annually from 2018 to present. After 8 seasons of organization, the award has become a prestigious brand of the capital's press, a forum to honor the intelligence, dedication and social responsibility of the team of journalists in the work of building and developing the culture and people of Hanoi.
In 2025, the Award attracted more than 350 works from 35 press agencies, vividly reflecting the cultural life of the capital - from heritage preservation, cultural industry development to building public service culture, school culture, and civilized urban lifestyle. Many works not only reflect reality but are also valuable sources of information for the city's propaganda, research and cultural policy making; at the same time, contributing to spreading good values, arousing pride, creativity and the desire to contribute of Hanoians.

Accordingly, this year's A Prize was awarded to 3 groups of authors: Group of authors Phi Nguyen Thuy Linh, Duong Van Thuan, Nguyen Viet Cuong, Truong Tuan Nghia, Nguyen Minh Tri, Ho Viet Thai, Vu Hien (VTV2 Vietnam Television) with the work "Hanoi Capital - The lasting marks"; group of authors Nguyet Thu, Ngoc Chung (Economic & Urban Newspaper) with the work "Culture is the foundation and driving force for the journey of historical transformation" and group of authors Tran Hong Van, Hoang Le Quyen, Doan Anh Tuan, Nguyen Tuan Phong, Vu Ngoc Ha (New Hanoi Newspaper) with the work "Hanoi builds a new model in the era of growth".

In addition, the Organizing Committee awarded 10 C prizes and 15 Consolation prizes to authors and groups of authors participating in the 8th press award on cultural development and building elegant and civilized Hanoians in 2025. At the same time, 2 excellent prizes were awarded to Vietnam Television and Tuoi Tre Thu Do Newspaper.
According to the evaluation of the Final Jury, this year's works clearly demonstrate professionalism and in-depth investment, outstanding in three aspects: Direction and organization from the editorial offices, many works are invested in a planned manner. At the same time, multimedia technology is strongly applied, with nearly 60 e-magazine, longform, megastory products, in line with modern journalism trends; promoting the strength of in-depth analysis of print newspapers, of which about 30% are serial series.
In terms of content, the entries have demonstrated both breadth and depth, closely following key issues in the construction and development of the capital's culture such as: Developing cultural industries; preserving and promoting traditional cultural values (craft villages, craft streets, artisans); planning, preserving architecture and heritage; communication culture, public service culture; exploiting Thang Long - Hanoi heritage; regional linkage for cultural industries; at the same time, many works directly target people's behavior and awareness...

The topics not only reflect the breath of contemporary life but are also closely linked to the political and cultural orientations of the Central Government and the city. Thereby, the messages are conveyed into familiar and easy-to-receive stories, contributing to raising awareness and inspiring civilized behavior in the community. Overall, the press works clearly demonstrate adherence to Resolution No. 33-NQ/TW of the Central Executive Committee on building and developing Vietnamese culture and people and Directive No. 30-CT/TU of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee on strengthening leadership in building elegant and civilized Hanoians, thereby creating a "framework" of topics for the press to exploit, and becoming a channel to vividly convey the Party's guidelines and policies, contributing to concretizing them into practical life.
In particular, this year's award also recognizes the serious and creative working spirit of the team of reporters, from choosing topics, conducting in-depth interviews, to expressing them in modern and attractive language. The participation of central press agencies helps to improve the quality, criticality and spread of the award, affirming the role of the press in fostering cultural and humanistic values, building elegant and civilized Hanoians in the new era - the era of national development.
As of August 6, 2025, the Organizing Committee has received 352 works from 35 press agencies, including 7 Hanoi press agencies and 28 central, ministerial, branch and local press agencies, with all types of press. With a spirit of objectivity, impartiality and high responsibility, from August 7, 2025 to August 25, 2025, the Preliminary Council of the 8th Press Award on Cultural Development and Building Elegant and Civilized Hanoians in 2025 introduced 80 works to the final round. After the preliminary round results were announced, the City Party Committee's Propaganda Department chaired the organization of the final round. Specifically, on September 19, 2025, the Final Council met and unanimously selected 33 best press works to award prizes; at the same time, selected 2 typical press agencies with many quality works to participate in the award.
