Speaking at the conference, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of An Giang Province Le Thanh Viet said that the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and the 11th An Giang Provincial People's Council for the 2026-2031 term is not only the right and obligation of every citizen but also to select truly exemplary people with sufficient qualities, capacity and prestige, representing the people in the National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels. The first consultation conference is an important first step, playing a role in laying the foundation for the entire process of introducing candidates.

At the conference, the representative of the Standing Committee of the An Giang Provincial People's Council presented the National Assembly Standing Committee's plan on the structure, composition, and number of people from political organizations, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, socio-political organizations, social organizations, state agencies, and local armed forces to be nominated as candidates for the National Assembly.
Accordingly, the National Assembly Standing Committee assigned 21 delegates to An Giang province, of which the Central Government introduced 10 delegates and the province introduced 11 delegates.
It is expected that 11 delegates will be introduced by the province, including 1 key leader (Provincial Party Secretary); 1 full-time delegate; 1 Youth Union delegate; and 1 military delegate.
Other structures include 7 delegates, including health; science and technology; finance; Party, grassroots government; internal affairs; Provincial Party Committee Inspection Committee; education and training.
Other structures are consulted and introduced by localities in accordance with local characteristics, with priority given to experts and scientists in the fields of law, economics, etc. Attention should be paid to the reasonable allocation of women, non-Party members, ethnic minorities, young people and self-nominated candidates, who are capable of contributing to the activities of the National Assembly.

The number of National Assembly deputies elected in the province is expected to be 7, so the number of official candidates is 35 people, each constituency nominates 5 people, elects 3, ensuring a minimum balance of 2; of which, the provincial delegates recommend candidates for 25 people.

The Standing Committee of the An Giang Provincial People's Council presented the expected structure, composition, and number of candidates recommended for election as provincial People's Council delegates from political organizations, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, socio-political organizations, social organizations, people's armed forces units, state agencies at the same level, and public service units, economic organizations, and lower-level administrative units.
The total number of delegates to the An Giang Provincial People's Council for the 2026-2031 term is 85; of which, 50 delegates at the provincial level and 35 delegates at the communal level. The expected number of candidates is: 74 at the provincial level; 69 at the communal level.
The expected structure of official delegates running for the Provincial People's Council for the 2026 - 2031 term after the third consultation includes 56 female delegates (39.16%); 16 ethnic minority delegates (11.19%); 15 non-Party delegates (10.49%); 23 young delegates under 40 years old (16.08%); 37 re-elected delegates (43.53%).
