According to the Southern Power Corporation (EVNSPC), An Giang province is currently supplied with electricity from the national power grid through 4 220kV stations with a total installed capacity of 2,000MVA. In addition, there are 3 solar power plants with a total capacity of 290MWp transmitting to the 110kV grid. An Giang Power Company manages 28 stations with an installed capacity of 2,048 MVA, with 46 transformers and 3 specialized customer stations with 130MVA; 42 110kV lines, equivalent to 950.64 km.
In the period of 2021 - 2025, EVNSPC will allocate about 11,741 billion VND to invest in the power grid system in An Giang province. Complete energizing and putting into use 30 110kV projects, including 1 220kV Kien Binh - Phu Quoc line project operating at 110kV voltage level.
In 2025, the unit completed energizing 12 110kV power grid projects, 2 medium and low voltage power grid projects and is implementing 18 grid projects/works with a total investment of VND 6,116 billion.

In the period of 2026 - 2030, to meet the development needs of An Giang province under the direction of the Prime Minister with double-digit growth, EVNSPC plans to invest in construction in An Giang province with a total estimated capital of about 13,054 billion VND.
Of which, about 877 billion VND is invested in the Phu Quoc 220kV transformer station project, expected to operate in the fourth quarter of 2026; 110kV power grid, with an investment capital of 3,230 billion VND (with 43 energized projects), increased capacity of 1,041 MVA and 464 km of lines; medium and low voltage power grid and other investments of about 7,547 billion VND for projects to remove auxiliary bridges, upgrade the 1-phase power grid to 3-phase, extend the power grid to island communes, and increase power supply to shrimp farming areas.
Regarding the incident on the Ha Tien - Phu Quoc underground cable line, immediately after the incident occurred, An Giang Electricity Company was present at the scene, determined the cause and proposed solutions, including: A temporary power supply plan to minimize power outages due to the incident and a plan to handle and reconnect the damaged underground cable, ensuring power supply to serve the daily needs of people on the island.
By December 3, all residential and commercial customers had been supplied with electricity, including about 6,100 customers in the northern Phu Quoc area.

Speaking at the meeting, on behalf of the leaders of An Giang Provincial People's Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Mung highly appreciated the efforts of the electricity sector, the timely direction of the Southern Power Corporation, An Giang Power Company has implemented many measures to ensure electricity supply to serve the daily needs of the people on the island; at the same time, there have been quick and safe solutions to re-energize the 110kV Ha Tien - Phu Quoc underground cable line, ensuring the re-energization of Phu Quoc special economic zone.

For An Giang province in the coming period, the socio -economic situation will have significant changes. Firstly, the organization of the APEC Summit 2027 will create great momentum and development opportunities for the province, especially Phu Quoc.
In addition, the whole province focuses on promoting production, business, shifting economic structure, increasing the proportion of industry. Therefore, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested EVNSPC to proactively plan investment based on the unit's budget to meet the electricity demand for socio-economic development of An Giang province.
Chairman of the People's Committee of An Giang province Ho Van Mung requested the Department of Construction to advise the Provincial People's Committee to guide and urge localities to update the lists and power projects managed by the electricity sector into land use planning, urban and rural planning, detailed planning... to ensure the basis for implementing projects according to regulations.
Proposing the electricity sector to coordinate with the Department of Finance and the Department of Industry and Trade to determine the list of power grids expected to be deployed in An Giang province to adjust and supplement the provincial planning for the period 2021 - 2030.
Departments, branches and localities continue to support and remove difficulties and obstacles in site clearance for power projects in the area; land recovery procedures must be carried out in compliance with current regulations.

Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Mung directed the People's Committee of Phu Quoc Special Zone to develop a detailed plan to report to the Provincial People's Committee through the Department of Industry and Trade for power projects in Phu Quoc, and assigned the Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee to monitor, urge and direct the implementation.
Regarding the underground power grid project to serve the APEC Conference, the province shared the difficulties with the electricity industry. The underground infrastructure project in Duong Dong and An Thoi areas was identified as urgent and necessary to serve the APEC Summit 2027, to ensure modern, synchronous and aesthetic urban technical infrastructure to serve APEC. The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the Department of Industry and Trade to advise the Provincial People's Committee to sign a document to send to the Prime Minister to report the difficulties of this project, and at the same time requested EVNSPC to report to Vietnam Electricity Group.
