Acceptance of the project on the collection of Oc Eo cultural artifacts

On the morning of December 5, the Department of Science and Technology of An Giang province held a meeting of the Council to evaluate and accept the results of the project "Research on promoting the value of the collection of Oc Eo cultural artifacts in An Giang (including Buddhist and Hindu art)".

Master Phan Van Kien, Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology, Chairman of the Council and members of the Council; representatives of An Giang Provincial Museum (the host organization), Department of Culture and Sports, Oc Eo Cultural Relic Management Board... attended the meeting.

On April 27, 2023, the People's Committee of An Giang province approved the project "Research on promoting the value of the collection of Oc Eo cultural artifacts in An Giang (including Buddhist and Hindu art)". The project has determined the historical and artistic value of the collection of Oc Eo cultural artifacts related to Buddhist and Hindu art in the province (before July 1, 2025). Thereby, assessing the current situation and proposing solutions to preserve and promote the value of Oc Eo cultural heritage in the province.

The research team has published two works: “Oc Eo cultural artifacts at An Giang Provincial Museum”, “Buddhist and Hindu art through the collection of Oc Eo cultural artifacts at An Giang Museum”; developed a bilingual explanatory document set “Oc Eo culture and ancient Phu Nam art”; trained tour guides and professional staff of the province in need; built a model of Oc Eo cultural heritage tourism for the locality.

The Council commented specifically and comprehensively evaluated the results of the project implementation (79.88 points).
