On August 6, White House Special Envoy Stephen Witkoff mentioned the idea of a trilateral meeting between Vladimir Putin, Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky, but Moscow did not comment on the matter, Yuri Ushakov said.
“First of all, we propose to focus on preparing a bilateral meeting with President Trump and we believe that the most important thing is that this meeting will be successful and effective,” Ushakov stressed.
The meeting between President Putin and White House Special Envoy Stephen Witkoff was constructive, during which the two sides discussed further joint steps to resolve the Ukraine crisis, Yuri Ushakov said. Russia has informed its friends and partners about the results of the meeting.
On Wednesday (August 6), President Putin received White House Special Envoy Stephen Witkoff at the Kremlin for more than 3 hours. This is the 5th visit of the US diplomat to Russia since the beginning of this year.
After the meeting, Mr. Ushakov said that through Mr. Witkoff, the leaders of the two countries exchanged signals about Ukraine and discussed the prospects for developing strategic cooperation between Moscow and Washington.
Later, on the social network Truth Social, US President Donald Trump wrote that the parties had made great progress at the meeting. He described the negotiations as very productive and emphasized that in the coming days and weeks, he intended to work to end combat operations.
