Da Nang dismantles largest ever 'American weed' trafficking ring

(Chinhphu.vn) - The Drug Crime Investigation Police Department, Da Nang City Police, has just successfully eradicated a case of illegal drug trafficking (American weed), arrested 5 subjects, and seized the largest amount of American weed ever in the city.

The Drug Police Department of Da Nang City Police seized more than 100 kg of American methamphetamine that had been sprayed.

Based on the synthesis of information and collected documents, at about 12:30 on August 6, in the area of ​​Nguyen Tri Phuong Street (Thanh Khe Ward), the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department caught Phan Thai Phien (born in 1974, residing in Thanh Khe Ward) red-handed for illegally buying and selling drugs, confiscating about 10 kg of American weed. Searching Phien's residence, the police force seized an additional 2 kg of American weed, 1 electronic scale and some other related evidence.

Continuing to expand the investigation, on the same day, in the Tran Cao Van street area, another reconnaissance team of the Department caught Nguyen Thi Thuy (born in 1991, residing in Hoa Cuong ward) in the act of illegally buying and selling drugs, confiscating about 1 kg of American weed. Searching Thuy's residence on Nguyen Tat Thanh street and Tran Cao Van street, the police seized 4 more packages of American weed and some related objects.

Based on the statements of Phan Thai Phien and Nguyen Thi Thuy and the collected documents and evidence, the Drug Police Department urgently arrested two subjects, Tran Thi Thanh Tuyen and Ngo Van Hoang Phuc; seized evidence including two plastic bags containing a light yellow substance (suspected to be drugs, weighing about 300 grams) and some other related evidence. Searching Tuyen's residence at two houses on Dong Tri 6 and Bau Mac 20 streets, the police seized about 70 kg of American grass that had been sprayed with drugs, two plastic bags containing a light yellow powder (suspected to be drugs, weighing about 200 grams), about 60 kg of dried herbal fibers (not sprayed with drugs), three plastic cans containing a white liquid and many other evidences.

Continuing to fight and consolidate documents and evidence, the Drug Police Department of Da Nang City Police urgently arrested Le Thanh Ka Ka (born in 1999), residing in Hoa Xuan ward, and seized more than 20 kg of American methamphetamine. Le Van Ka Ka was identified as the subject who sold the drug powder to Tran Thi Thanh Tuyen. Tuyen then lured Ngo Van Hoang Phuc to participate in the role of spraying drugs on dry herbs, then dividing, weighing, packaging and selling them to others at Tuyen's request.

According to preliminary statistics from the Drug Police Department of Da Nang City Police, the total amount of evidence seized in the case was about 500 grams of yellow powder (suspected to be drugs), more than 100 kg of sprayed American meth, hundreds of millions of dong and many other related evidences.

The Drug Police Department has decided to temporarily detain Tran Thi Thanh Tuyen, Phan Thai Phien, Nguyen Thi Thuy, Ngo Van Hoang Phuc and Le Thanh Ka Ka for illegal drug trafficking and continues to investigate the case.
