The 2024 National Artistic Gymnastics Championship is organized by the Vietnam Gymnastics Federation in coordination with the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports from November 19-25 at Hanoi Gymnasium (No. 12 Trinh Hoai Duc). The tournament attracted the participation of nearly 50 athletes from leading provinces and cities in developing Artistic Gymnastics across the country such as Binh Duong , Ho Chi Minh City and host Hanoi. Athletes compete in 9 individual events and 3 group events. Athlete Luong Gia Linh in the ball test on the first day of competition (November 23), this is also the event in which the Hanoi team's athletes excellently won the individual gold medal. Without coach Nguyen Thi Ha and national team number 1 athlete Nguyen Ha My, the Hanoi team could no longer maintain the top position as in previous years. Hanoi athlete Luong Gia Linh competed quite well but only brought home a bronze medal in the individual all-around. Two silver medals and a gold medal in the individual all-around event went to two athletes from the HCMC delegation. In the photo is athlete Nguyen Truc Phuong in the hoop competition. She won 4 silver medals and 1 bronze medal in the individual events.
Athlete Ngo Hai Yen of HCMC 1 team competed outstandingly, winning 3 individual gold medals in silk, hoop, and mace, and also won the individual all-around gold medal.
Artistic gymnastics is a popular sport in the world, included in the Olympic system and major international competitions. Vietnam is considered a country with great development potential because it is suitable for the physique, flexibility and dexterity of Vietnamese people, especially women. At the 32nd SEA Games held in Cambodia in 2023, there will be no competition in Artistic Gymnastics, which is a huge disadvantage for athletes in the regional arena. This year's National Championship is an opportunity to select outstanding athletes and new talents to prepare for international tournaments and the 33rd SEA Games held in Thailand in 2025. Participating in this year's championship are many young players, giving athletes the opportunity to compete, learn, and improve their skills and competitive spirit.
Vu Le Tra My, competing for the Hanoi team, is one of the youngest athletes in the tournament at just 11 years old. This is the first time Tra My has participated in a national championship, competing in individual events with ball, club and hoop. In the individual all-around score, the smallest athlete of the tournament ranked 17th out of 23 registered athletes. In the overall medal tally, Ho Chi Minh City 1 delegation won first place with 7 gold medals, 6 silver medals, and 1 bronze medal. Hanoi delegation came in second with 2 gold medals, 3 silver medals, and 4 bronze medals. Binh Duong delegation ranked third with 4 bronze medals, Ho Chi Minh City 2 ranked last and did not win any medals.
