- From the beginning of 2025 until now, the situation of counterfeit goods and goods infringing intellectual property (IP) in circulation on the market is still complicated, seriously affecting the economy , businesses and consumer rights. In Lang Son province's market, the authorities have discovered many businesses selling counterfeit goods and IP infringing goods to consumers. To prevent counterfeit goods from circulating on the market, the provincial market management force has been increasing inspection and supervision of businesses in the area.
Through inspections, in the first 4 months of 2025, the provincial Market Management Department discovered 108 cases of trading and transporting counterfeit goods and goods infringing on intellectual property rights. At the same time, the Lang Son provincial Market Management Department discovered 83 establishments operating through e-commerce trading counterfeit goods and goods infringing on intellectual property rights. The provincial Market Management Department confiscated thousands of units of cosmetics and food products without labels according to regulations, violating intellectual property rights, counterfeit goods, etc.
This actual data shows that the situation of trading in counterfeit goods and goods infringing intellectual property in the provincial market is still happening.
Talking with the leaders of the Provincial Consumer Protection Association, we learned that counterfeit goods, goods that infringe on intellectual property rights... can be circulated in many market segments, from small grocery stores in rural communes to large businesses in urban areas.
Counterfeit goods and goods that infringe intellectual property rights are not only found in popular consumer goods such as clothes, shoes, and cosmetics, but also in goods that are important to consumers’ health, such as food. This not only undermines consumer confidence, but also infringes on the rights of consumers in Lang Son province.
Faced with such reality, to prevent counterfeit goods and intellectual property infringement goods from circulating in the province's market, with the assigned functions and tasks, the Lang Son Provincial Market Management Department has directed its Market Management Teams to closely follow the area, using professional measures to clearly understand each individual and business establishment in the area. From there, promptly detect, organize and prevent individuals and businesses from carrying out acts of trading in counterfeit goods and intellectual property infringement goods.
Mr. Nguyen Minh Tuan, Deputy Head of the Provincial Market Management Department, said: The leaders of the Provincial Market Management Department have directed the subordinate Market Management teams to organize screening and collect information from the market, from intelligence sources... to have a basis for conducting surprise inspections of business establishments, thereby preventing violators from having time to disperse infringing goods.
Along with that, the provincial Market Management force also implemented monitoring, collecting and grasping information about groups of goods that consumers buy a lot to develop plans to inspect and control key items at different times.
In particular, the provincial Market Management Department has been focusing on the fight against counterfeit goods and goods that infringe intellectual property rights through business activities in the e-commerce environment. In particular, the provincial Market Management Department proactively coordinates with relevant agencies (police, customs, telecommunications enterprises, post offices , etc.) to organize the classification of e-commerce websites, social network addresses of establishments and individuals doing business in the e-commerce environment, etc. to use professional measures, develop investigation plans, detect and prevent the trading of counterfeit goods and goods that infringe intellectual property rights in the e-commerce environment.
Discussing this content, Mr. Lieu Anh Minh, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, shared that, in addition to issuing documents directing the Market Management Force to organize measures to monitor and inspect the circulation of goods on the market, in the coming time, the Department of Industry and Trade will coordinate with relevant agencies of the province, with the Provincial Consumer Protection Association... to organize 3-5 conferences and training seminars on legal regulations related to protecting consumer rights; distinguishing genuine goods from counterfeit goods and distinguishing goods that infringe intellectual property rights for relevant officials and civil servants, as well as for consumers in the province. In addition, the department also sent documents to manufacturing enterprises requesting coordination with the provincial authorities in appraising and handling counterfeit goods on the market.
It can be seen that, with the measures that have been and are being implemented by the provincial Market Management force, as well as the timely intervention of the state management agency in the field in Lang Son province, the situation of trading in counterfeit goods and goods infringing intellectual property rights in the domestic market will be thoroughly prevented, thereby contributing to cleaning up the business environment and protecting consumer rights.
