German Development Bank works with Son La Provincial People's Committee

On May 20, the delegation of the German Development Bank (KfW) led by Mr. Thomas Rival, Portfolio Manager and Mr. Hans Christian Traute, Senior Engineer, had a meeting with the Provincial People's Committee on the Son La City Drainage and Wastewater Treatment System Project. Receiving and working with the delegation, our province had comrade Le Hong Minh, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; representatives of departments, branches and the Son La City People's Committee.

Delegation of German Reconstruction Bank worked with Son La Provincial People's Committee.

The Son La City Drainage and Wastewater Treatment System Project, Phase 1b, has a total adjusted and supplemented investment of more than VND 208 billion, from ODA capital from the German Government , the Swiss Government and counterpart capital from the State budget. The investment scale has 2 main items, including: Renovation and repair of 8 traffic routes and sewer and rainwater drainage systems; investment in expanding the wastewater collection pipeline network, expanding the collection area for about 3,650 additional households.

After 5 years of implementation, the project has been basically completed, the project quality is guaranteed according to the requirements, the operation of the drainage system and wastewater treatment is ensured continuously, the quality of the output wastewater is cleaned to meet column A according to QCVN 40/2011/BTNMT standards. From 2024 to present, 3,263 households have connected to wastewater, bringing the total number of wastewater connections to about 8,668 households.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Thomas Rival highly appreciated the achievements of Son La province in directing the implementation of the project, especially in terms of capacity, responsibility, progress and quality of the project. At the same time, he also discussed, gave comments and made specific assessments of the project so that the project could be completed according to the set objectives and promote investment efficiency after being put into use.

Speaking at the meeting, comrade Le Hong Minh thanked the German Reconstruction Bank's delegation for supporting Son La province in implementing the project, ensuring completion, shortening the progress according to the set goals, and putting it into operation, contributing to collecting and treating wastewater to ensure a better environment in Son La city, meeting the criteria for a type II urban area. Son La province will do a good job of propaganda so that people can coordinate to connect to the city's waste treatment system, ensuring the capacity to effectively promote the project. Requesting the German Reconstruction Bank Continue to pay attention to and support the Provincial ODA Project Management Board in the work of inspecting and evaluating the completion of the project to ensure compliance with regulations.
