People's Artist Quoc Hung officially took office as Director of the National Academy of Music

Speaking at the ceremony, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Huy Phuong, Chairman of the School Council, said that since April 2024, when he was assigned to hold the position of Deputy Director in charge of the Academy during the period of completing the position of Director, Dr., People's Artist Do Quoc Hung, with the role and responsibility of the head, together with the leaders in the Party Committee, the Academy Council, and the Board of Directors, has set out strategies and goals, leading the Academy to successfully complete the assigned tasks.

Speaking at the announcement ceremony, People's Artist Quoc Hung expressed his honor and emotion when he was officially assigned the responsibility of being the Director of the Vietnam National Academy of Music - the leading academic school in the field of professional music training in the country.

People's Artist Quoc Hung affirmed that, with his new role, he wishes and strives with the leadership and lecturers of the Academy to continue improving the quality of training, focusing on talent and artistic qualities; promoting international cooperation and academic integration; promoting the role of the Academy in developing the cultural industry and in the contemporary musical life of the country.

“We will constantly innovate to maintain the Academy as a symbol of the quintessence of Vietnamese music, as well as a source of creativity and sustainable development in the era of strong transformation of art and technology” – People's Artist Quoc Hung affirmed.

Doctor, People's Artist Do Quoc Hung was born in 1970 in Dong Anh ( Hanoi ), entered the Hanoi Conservatory of Music - the predecessor of the Vietnam National Academy of Music - in 1991 and spent 30 years studying, teaching and performing here.

As one of the leading bass singers in Vietnam, People's Artist Do Quoc Hung won First Prize in the National Chamber Singing - Opera Competition in 2000, received the Golden Cup of the Pyongyang Spring International Music Festival in 2004 and has had many international performance experiences in Germany, North Korea, Russia... He was invited to stay as an artist at the Hannover Opera House (Germany) after training and performing there in 1998, but chose to return to Vietnam to continue his teaching career and contribute to the country's arts.

Not only stopping at performing, People's Artist Do Quoc Hung is also particularly interested in scientific research. The book "Training opera singers in Vietnam" - the result of research published from his doctoral thesis - is one of the rare academic documents in this field in Vietnam.

Before becoming Deputy Director and now Director of the Vietnam National Academy of Music, People's Artist Do Quoc Hung held the position of Deputy Director and then Director of the Vocal Department - one of the key departments of the Academy.

Under his leadership, the Vocal Music Department has made remarkable progress in terms of professional quality, teaching staff and training scale. Currently, the department has 6 lecturers who have successfully defended their doctoral theses, along with many Meritorious Artists - many of whom were his students.

Many students of People's Artist Do Quoc Hung have now become famous, such as Meritorious Artist Hoang Tung, Meritorious Artist Truong Bac, singer Quang Ha...
