The journey through DK1/10 Platform, Con Dao, Hon Khoai, Tho Chu, Hon Chuoi, Nam Du, Hon Doc and Phu Quoc left special emotions for the delegates. It was a journey connecting the affection of Ho Chi Minh City with the distant islands .
One of the most impressive destinations is the DK1/10 platform, installed on Ca Mau shoal, on the southern continental shelf of the Fatherland.
DK1/10 rig
During the visit to the rig on November 11, due to unfavorable weather conditions with rain, big waves, and strong winds, only a few delegates were able to set foot directly on the rig. The rest stood on the deck of the Fisheries Surveillance ship KN-290, anchored more than 1 nautical mile from the rig.
The journey to DK1/10 platform was not an easy one. When the canoe brought the delegates to the foot of the platform, due to the big waves, it took more than 15 minutes for everyone to reach the platform.
Moving to the rig was very difficult due to big waves.

A very beautiful image in the middle of the vast ocean, that is when climbing up to the rig, the delegates tightly hold the hands of the soldiers on duty here. They admire the soldiers who do not mind the hardships and difficulties at the forefront of the wind and waves to carry out the task of protecting the sacred sovereignty of the Fatherland.
Talking with officers and soldiers on the platform, Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Loc could not hold back his emotions when seeing the soldiers, although very young, always with a strong spirit and will.
"Not only me but also the delegates of Ho Chi Minh City were very touched and proud to see the officers and soldiers of the rig always trying to overcome difficulties and trying to complete the assigned tasks. You are the ones who keep your guns steady, support the fishermen, always uphold the spirit of combat readiness, making very important contributions to the cause of firmly protecting the sovereignty of the Fatherland" - Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Loc emphasized.

Major Bui Van Tho, military doctor at DK1/10 platform
Talking to us, Major Bui Van Tho, a military doctor on the platform, made everyone extremely emotional when he said that in 30 years of service, he celebrated Tet at sea 7 times, and stayed in 8 different platforms. All the raising of children and taking care of both paternal and maternal families were done by his wife's hard-working hands.
"No matter what the working conditions are, I always try to learn from the experiences of those who have gone before me to support my teammates and fishermen during their time at sea. Soldiers, no matter what position or role they hold, always do their best with the assigned responsibilities. In the home front, I feel very secure when my wonderful wife always loves her children and takes care of the family with all her heart" - Major Bui Van Tho shared.
Sergeant Nguyen Tan Giau (from Ho Chi Minh City) is on duty.
Sergeant Nguyen Tan Giau said he left Ho Chi Minh City for the DK1/10 platform in mid-January 2024. When he first received the assignment, he was still confused because there were so many new things, surrounded by the ocean. "But thanks to the encouragement and support of my teammates, I am more confident. I am proud to hold a gun to guard the sea and sky of the country" - Sergeant Giau expressed.
The officers and soldiers of the platform shared that they are always ready to fight, unite, and strengthen their team spirit to successfully complete the assigned tasks.
Having the opportunity to go to the rig to meet and visit the field vegetable garden, seeing the lifestyle and neat arrangement of the soldiers on the rig, Ms. Thi Do Nhat Kim, teacher in charge of the team - Phu Dong Primary School (District 6, Ho Chi Minh City), admired and respected the soldiers even more.

"Despite the unfavorable weather, shortages, and distance from family... the officers and soldiers on the rig still serve wholeheartedly. After returning to their work unit, I will convey this information to my colleagues, students, friends and relatives so that they can better understand the silent hardships of the "heroes" on the remote island. If I have the opportunity to come back here again, I will definitely give many gifts, although not big, but they contain all the feelings of me and those around me" - Ms. Kim said.
Other members of the Ho Chi Minh City delegation were also moved and expressed special affection for the officers and soldiers of DK1/10 Platform with hugs, handshakes, and messages.

The song "Oh Rigs" was composed right after the visit to DK1/10 Rig.
After the trip to the rig with many special and indescribable emotions, singer - musician Dong Trieu - one of the troupe's performers - completed the song "Oh rig!". This is also the song that singer - musician Dong Trieu performed many times during the visit to the islands in the Southwest sea, creating many emotions for the troupe and soldiers thanks to the poetic lyrics and heroic melody.
“I have been to Truong Sa many times, and this is the second time I have been to the Southwest sea. The first time, in 2016, I wrote the song "Song of Ship 632". Now, after 8 years, having the opportunity to return to the Southwest and visit the rig, all the emotions in me come flooding back. I wanted to write this song to thank the soldiers and hope that this will be the motivation for them to complete their mission well" - Dong Trieu shared.
To date, singer-songwriter Dong Trieu has composed 10 songs about the sea and islands. The songs are introduced on his personal page and social networking platforms.
