Livelihood support
Three years ago, 60% of the population in Ka Dang commune were poor and near-poor households, and people's lives faced many difficulties.
With affection and responsibility for the sister commune, the units proactively coordinate with the Party Committee and People's Committee of Ka Dang commune to directly and regularly send cadres and party members to grasp the ideological situation and life, listen to the legitimate thoughts and aspirations of the people, and from there propose to the relevant levels and branches to effectively and synchronously implement programs and projects, helping to improve the material and spiritual life, towards the goal of sustainable poverty reduction for the people.
The first livelihood model chosen to help poor households is to support crops and livestock. Over the past three years, the units have given dozens of breeding cows, more than 100 pigs and chickens, and more than 300 plants to people in the twin commune.
Most recently, through the connection and mobilization of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department, philanthropists directly visited each house to inquire about the health and life of the people and gave livelihoods to 5 extremely disadvantaged households. Each household received a livelihood of 1 cow worth 12 million VND and 1 million VND in cash.
As the recipient household, Mr. A Lang Ruon (residing in Ben Hien village) said that this was a huge gift for his family, something he had never dreamed of. Mr. Ruon's family is currently one of more than 200 poor households in the area.
When he heard that he was chosen to receive cows this time, his family had already built a barn. Mr. Ruon excitedly said: “My family will take good care of the cows so that from now on we can escape poverty in the future.”
Social Security
According to Mr. Le Van Tu - Secretary of the Ka Dang Commune Party Committee, with the spirit of sharing, in recent times, the support and assistance programs of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department and the Provincial Red Cross Society have helped the locality a lot in investing in infrastructure projects and new livelihood models. Many models and projects have been effective in helping the community develop, increase income, and stabilize life.

Mr. Tu confided: “The economic models supported by the sister unit have brought about significant results. Together with the efforts of the entire Party Committee, the number of poor households in the commune is now 36%.
In addition, the coordination of organizing classes to disseminate legal education and legal aid consultation; natural disaster prevention, rescue, first aid; opening vocational training classes for interior electrical installation, mechanical welding, cooking, etc. is also very effective.
In addition to supporting people in economic development, the units also mobilized cadres, employees, and organizations to support the construction of playgrounds, purchase equipment for community centers, and carry out a 1km project to light up rural roads with solar energy.
Every year, the unit also regularly coordinates with many organizations to visit villages to exchange cultural activities; provide free medical examinations and medicines; give scholarships (20 scholarships, each worth 3 to 4 million VND), support bicycles for poor students; along with thousands of gifts to encourage people in difficult circumstances affected by natural disasters and floods. The total estimated budget of the twinned units to support in the past 3 years is more than 1.5 billion VND.
In recent years, along with the whole province, Ka Dang commune has promoted the work of supporting the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses. This is a major policy to support and contribute to ensuring stable housing for the disadvantaged, especially ethnic minority areas. Not outside of that meaningful goal, the twinning work has also been "integrated", creating motivation to promote the plan to eliminate temporary houses for the community.
“The two houses were built and handed over for use in the past two years with support from the partner organizations. This housing support for the needy has greatly contributed to the goal of eliminating temporary houses and creating conditions for people to stabilize their lives,” said ALang Lan, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Ka Dang Commune.
According to Mr. Phan Cong Ry - Vice Chairman of the Provincial Red Cross Society, in the coming time, the units associated with Ka Dang commune will continue to donate livelihoods, carry out projects to light up rural roads with solar energy and a number of other social security activities.
Mr. Ry said: "We hope that in the coming time, people will trust and continue to comply with the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws, unite, strive to rise up, and build a prosperous life."
