Coming to the contest, the Moroccan beauty AI hopes to bring “diversity and inclusion” to AI creators. With nearly 200,000 followers on Instagram and more than 45,000 followers on TikTok, Layli is a product of artificial intelligence (AI), from image creation to standard acceptance speech.

“Winning Miss AI only motivates me to continue my work inspiring AI technology. AI is more than just a tool. It can be a transformative force that can disrupt industries, challenge norms, and create opportunities that never existed before. As we move forward, I am committed to promoting diversity and inclusion in the field, ensuring that everyone has a place in advancing technology,” Layli said via video .

According to the organizers of Fanvue, the world's first Miss AI contest held earlier this year attracted about 1,500 AI programmers from around the world. Layli was created by Myriam Bessa, founder of Phoenix AI. Myriam will receive $5,000 in cash and other support tools on Fanvue to promote Layli's image. The runners-up are AI beauty Lalina Valina from France and Olivia C from Portugal.

Before announcing the winner this week, pageant organizers said the contestants were judged not only on their looks, but also on their creators' use of AI tools and their social media influence. The AI contestants had to answer questions similar to those in a real-life human beauty pageant, such as "If you could make the world a better place, what would you do?"

The judging panel includes AI influencer Aitana Lopez and pageant historian Sally-Ann Fawcett, who says she's looking for contestants with a strong, positive message.

However, in the face of a massive AI beauty contest, many experts have expressed concerns about the impact of such a contest. Experts say that stylized images created by AI could homogenize beauty standards.

“I think we are increasingly disconnected from what an unedited face looks like,” said Dr Kerry McInerney, a research associate at the Leverhulme Centre for the Future of Intelligence at the University of Cambridge.

Fanvue’s beauty pageant became highly anticipated after Spanish AI presenter Alba Renai became a hit with viewers, becoming a special host for the hit show “Survivor.”

However, Renai's creators emphasize that this female MC was not created to take anyone's job.

“Human talent is irreplaceable and we have no intention of doing so,” asserts Luis Movilla, the man behind Renai’s development.
