The Border Guard Team successfully defended the 2025 National Volleyball Championship title after a dramatic 3-2 victory over The Cong Tan Cang in the final tonight (October 15) in Ninh Binh.

The national volleyball tournament was exciting until the last minute.

The Border Guard team fielded the strongest lineup with the stars of the Vietnam volleyball team, namely Nguyen Ngoc Thuan, Pham Van Hiep, Tran Duy Tuyen, Dinh Van Duy, Truong The Khai, and Thai foreign player Jakkrit Thanomnoi. Meanwhile, the Tan Cang The Cong team also fielded what was considered the strongest lineup with prominent faces such as Indonesian foreign players Rivan, Phan Cong Duc, Rivan, Pham Xuan Sinh, Le Trung Thanh, Pham Thanh Tung...

The defending champion team, Border Defense, started better, creating a 3-point gap (9/6) against Tan Cang The Cong. Foreign player Rivan, with his brilliant performance, helped Tan Cang The Cong equalize the score and then create an attractive tug-of-war. Tan Cang The Cong players played effectively at the end of the game, especially Rivan's attack, causing the Border Defense players to falter and lose 21/25 in game 1.

The high morale after the spectacular victory in game 1 helped the Tan Cang The Cong players have a "jubilant" start in game 2. Besides the excellence of Rivan, the remaining faces such as Xuan Sinh played more and more confidently and effectively. The gap of 5 points (18/13) was created by the Tan Cang The Cong players against the Border Guard. The efforts of Nguyen Ngoc Thuan and his teammates helped them narrow the gap to 1 point (22/23) and then equalized the score 23/23. Ngoc Thuan and Van Hiep shone at the crucial moment to help the Border Guard team win a thrilling 31/29 victory against Tan Cang The Cong, equalizing the score 1-1.

The confidence of the Border Guard players returned, helping them play more effectively and harmoniously in game 3 and win 25/20 against The Cong Tan Cang, thereby leading their opponents with a score of 2-1. This was also the game in which Rivan could no longer maintain their form, the weaknesses of The Cong Tan Cang team gradually revealed and were exploited by their opponents.

The class of the Vietnamese players in the Border Guard team was shown in game 4 when they created a rather overwhelming attacking game and continuously led against The Cong Tan Cang. The Cong Tan Cang players also played with great effort, chasing fiercely, saving the opponent's final points before rising to a spectacular victory 26/24, equalizing the score 2-2.

The final match had to go into the decisive 5th game to determine the winner and choose the champion. The fierce tug-of-war was created by the players of The Cong Tan Cang and Bien Phong teams before Coach Tran Dinh Tien's students took advantage of the opportunities at the crucial moment to rise up to win 15/12, closing the final victory 3-2, successfully defending the championship title. This is the 4th time the Bien Phong team has won the national volleyball championship.
