For decades, Mr. Sung A Denh, a prestigious person in Thung Man hamlet, Hang Kia commune, Mai Chau district, Hoa Binh province, has made many important contributions to the work of protecting security and order in the locality.

As a prestigious person, Mr. Denh has persuaded 23 drug addicts in Thung Man hamlet to voluntarily go to drug rehabilitation. He also directly met and persuaded Ho A Cua, a resident of Thung Man hamlet, who was wanted by the Son La Provincial Police for illegally buying and selling 30 heroin cakes, to surrender. In addition, he also grasped the local situation and promptly advised the Commune Police to resolve conflicts and incidents that caused instability in security and order at the grassroots level.

To carry out the reconciliation work well, we must promote propaganda and mobilize people of all ethnic groups to promote the spirit of solidarity within the village and hamlet. In addition to propaganda, we persuade people to believe in the truth and distinguish between right and wrong. The person doing the reconciliation work must be patient, calm, skillful, flexible and explain persuasively to be successful.

“As prestigious people, we realize that we have a responsibility to work with local authorities and functional forces to maintain security and order in the village, join hands to build and protect the Fatherland. We always consider everyone's children as our own children to propagate and mobilize, not to let them fall, or if they fall, they know how to stand up,” Mr. Sung A Denh shared.

The whole province of Hoa Binh currently has 1,276 Prestigious People among ethnic minorities. During the period from 2018 to 2023, Prestigious People of Hoa Binh province provided nearly 1,000 valuable pieces of information. Thereby, contributing to the stable resolution of 231 complicated cases related to the security and order situation at the grassroots level.

Mr. Ha Ngoc Tuan - Deputy Head of the Ethnic Minorities Committee of Hoa Binh province affirmed that in recent years, through specific actions, prestigious people among ethnic minorities in Hoa Binh province have promoted very well the work of propaganda and mobilization of ethnic minorities to implement the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws. Prestigious people regularly raise their vigilance and proactively, actively participate with the Party committees and authorities to fight and refute the false and distorted arguments of hostile forces. At the same time, they actively participate in patriotic emulation movements, build and consolidate the great national unity bloc in hamlets and villages.

Solidarity centers at the grassroots level

In Gia Lai province, for many years, Mr. Ro O Bhot, a prestigious person in Du village, Chu Rcam commune, Krong Pa district, has actively participated in mediating many disputes and conflicts in the locality. Together with the mediator force throughout Krong Pa district, Mr. Ro O Bhot has successfully participated in mediating 234 cases at the grassroots level...

Gia Lai province currently has 955 Prestigious People among ethnic minorities. In addition to joining hands with the Party Committee and local authorities to maintain security and order at the grassroots level, the Prestigious People among ethnic minorities in Gia Lai province also actively participate with the police force to reform and educate thousands of people with bad personal backgrounds. A typical example is Mr. Bome, who used to join the Fulro force in the Central Highlands, has now reformed and become a Prestigious Person in Ha Bau commune, Dak Doa district. Or Mr. Ama Thai, who used to be one of the leaders of Fulro in Gia Lai province, when he reformed, he joined the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Chu Se district...

For the Khmer people in An Binh hamlet, Minh Hoa commune, Chau Thanh district, Kien Giang province, Mr. Danh Chuong is not only a prestigious person but also a center of solidarity in the hamlet. Understanding the life and culture of the Khmer people, Mr. Danh Chuong has a reasonable and appropriate approach and advice, which many people trust, listen to and follow. Every year, Mr. Danh Chuong and the An Binh hamlet leadership carry out many successful mediations at the grassroots level related to marriage and family, money disputes, land boundaries, etc. Thanks to that, the village and neighborhood relationships are increasingly close-knit.

It can be affirmed that in recent years, the ethnic minority and mountainous areas have always been stable, political security, social order and safety have been ensured, the economy has developed... with important contributions from prestigious people - those who are always steadfast and resilient in leading the community to overcome all difficulties and challenges, overcoming difficulties to rise up.
