Recently, many Garmin smartwatch users have reported on community groups about the device suddenly shutting down and displaying the error "IQ!" on the screen without any solution. The cases have been recorded on both mid-range and high-end models of this brand that are available worldwide as well as in the Vietnamese market.
Many Garmin smartwatch owners have expressed frustration at having to deal with this issue for a long time. One customer shared on Reddit that his Fenix 7X Pro Sapphire Solar watch crashed three times in just one month after receiving the 19.34 update. Another user also reported that his Fenix 7 watch was getting the "IQ!" error once or twice a month.
Various Garmin models have the "IQ!" error.
Not only the "IQ!" error, many Garmin watch lines are also receiving feedback about software-related problems both internationally and in Vietnam. Mr. T.D.T (HCMC), the owner of a Garmin Fenix 7, said that the device he is using is having an intermittent Start/Stop button.
At first, he thought that the watch had water in it, causing a short circuit under the key, but after turning it off and restarting it, it worked normally. "After a while, it became unstable and the button was no longer sensitive," Mr. D.T shared.
In addition, this watch, which has a listed price of around 20 million VND (depending on the version), also has a GPS feature error. Specifically, the device cannot accurately measure the user's movements even in outdoor spaces. He said: "Once I went swimming, it took more than 20 minutes but the watch only reported swimming 42 meters, and the swimming route was like a person walking around that area, the line showing the distance traveled encroached on the neighboring buildings, even... ran to the opposite side of the road."
Similarly, Mr. VMK ( Hanoi ) also confirmed that the Garmin Fenix 6X he used about 3 years ago also had the problem of reporting incorrect GPS. However, after recently switching to a new device, the Garmin Epix Pro (Gen 2), the GPS error was gone.
Garmin Fenix Series Models Have Multiple Reports of GPS Failure
Mr. QN (Hanoi) was confused when his Garmin Forerunner 265 model kept notifying him of a software update, even though he always chose to upgrade. "I don't know if it's a bug or an update, but every 1-2 weeks the watch shows a new version update. Although I haven't seen anything unusual during use, the fact that there are new software versions constantly makes me worried, not knowing what's going on," he confided.
On social media, many users also reported GPS errors on different models of this expensive smartwatch brand. The owner of a Garmin Fenix 5 Plus Sapphire said: "I don't regret it, but I'm disappointed." This person pointed out errors related to maps that sometimes do not display in the area where they live.
Another Garmin Forerunner 965 user also confirmed that the GPS on the product he is using is almost completely inaccurate. "I swam 1km outdoors, the watch said I swam 600m. It takes a long time for the GPS to work. I eat about 3,200 calories a day but the watch says I'm burning 2,500 calories so I should be gaining weight, while I'm losing weight," this person commented.
It is worth mentioning that most of the faulty watch models belong to Garmin's expensive segment, priced around 20 million VND or more. Some models in the price range of over 10 million VND such as Forerunner 265 or 965 also have minor software errors without a thorough solution.
Currently, Garmin is known as the brand of sports tracking smartwatches with the highest average selling price per model on the market.
