At the regular press conference of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the afternoon of June 19, in response to reporters' questions about the US's decision to resume student visa interviews from June 18 after a period of suspension, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Pham Thu Hang said that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as well as Vietnamese representative agencies in the US are seeking information on this issue.

"We hope that student visa applications will continue to be implemented in the spirit of facilitating the legitimate learning needs of international students, including Vietnamese students," Ms. Hang affirmed.
Previously, on June 18, the US State Department announced that it would resume the visa issuance process for foreign students after a temporary suspension, but all applicants would have to provide public access to their social media accounts for government inspection.
The US State Department's announcement stated that consular officers will review posts and messages that may be considered hostile to the United States, its government, culture, institutions, or founding principles.
The ministry also said it had lifted a suspension on student visas issued in May, warning that applicants who refused to make their social media accounts "public" for checks could be denied visas.
